OK Course Layout
Well-kept course, but there are too many par 3’s. You end a round of 18 with 3 par-3’s in a row. It’s only a par 65, so it’s short. Price for the round was reasonable and carts are in OK condition.
Good for beginners
** Pace of play is horrible: No starter or ranger present. 4-some, 1-player, 4-some, 2-some... Several groups jumping around in the course. We followed three different groups, one of which we never saw before until holes 17 & 18.... The first 3 holes took about 50 mins to play being a par 4 and two par 3's.... ** Skill levels: Unfortunately many newer low-skill players on the course. "Four" is yelled often or not at all as a golf ball lands about 6-12ft from you. ** Greens are very hard and challenging. ** My favorite was waiting for golfers to hit off our fairway while on the t-box...
Greens recently aerated. Putting was a little unpredictable on some holes.
Good enough course, for not a lot of money
There were bare spots on the greens; otherwise the course was in decent shape.
Course is just OK
The course is extremely short. Par 65. It felt like I was at an oversized putt-putt course. Holes are extremely close together and on each hole, balls were flying onto our hole. On each hole! I was certain we would get hit! Haha. Only 1 par 5 for the whole course and about 9 par 3s.
Overall I was pretty disappointed with the course layout.
The staff was amazing though! Super friendly guys!!
If you are a beginner, this is the course for you. If you're looking for something more challenging and scenic, I would suggest traveling down the road.
You can tell that a lot of people that play this course, did really care about the course. Tee boxes were covered in divots. The bunkers looked like a weekend at the beach (not groomed), and the greens were peppered with ball marks and on about 8 of the greens, you could tell people were through stakes into the green, stepping on balls to create a 2 inch deep hole and half of them were covered in diseased grass.
I don't think I would play this course again unless someone else is paying.
If this was my first time golfing I would never go golfing again in my life.
I recently had the misfortune of playing a round here and it was an experience I wouldn't wish on any golfer. The fairways were in horrendous condition, with patches of dirt and weeds scattered throughout. It felt more like playing in a neglected field than on a proper golf course. The greens were even worse, riddled with divots and bare spots, making it nearly impossible to get a true roll on putts. The maintenance of this course is clearly lacking, and it severely impacts the overall enjoyment of the game. I would strongly advise against wasting your time and money here. There are far better courses in the area that actually take pride in their upkeep. Hot deal was a highway robbery of money that I’ll never get back. It’s a travesty that the mayor of Oaklawn doesn’t shut this course down and use that land for a public benefit. Nevertheless tee times were so squeezed in I could have built a house by the time we finished the round. Overall terrible course!!!!!
