Great Pace of Play! Great Course!
Father’s day weekend, the course was completely full, and we still played in under 4 hours. The golf course gets better and better every time we play it. The greens were the best we’ve putted on all year.
Managed tee times poorly.
Came out for an afternoon round on a Wednesday. Was told to start on hole 10, did not get an explanation as to why. Come to find out they had woman’s league on the back which caused a significant delay in pace of play for many golfers.
Hidden Gem & Great Value
This course was in perfect shape today. The greens were quick and the entire course was well maintained. Very good pace of play on a Tuesday. 18 holes in 3 hours. Very impressed by the improvement that have been made over the last few years. Best course in the Illinois Valley by far! Highly recommend.
Course Conditions
The course is in great condition. The greens and t boxes are in very good shape. Course layout a bit confusing, could be a little more signage. The black flags on the greens are hard to see with the dark forest background. The staff were very helpful, especially Jake who helped with a booking issue.
Golf today
Course conditions were great. I did not like the black flags on the pins. Hard to see. Should change then to colors like other courses . The course layout is a bit confusing for first timers. Put some more signage up directing ….especially after hole 9 and 14
Wow, the course was in great shape!!
Played on a Friday afternoon and the pace of play was great. Well organized and good flow. We were blown away by how good of shape the golf course was in. Very cool property with a fun, laid back vibe. The carts are some of the nicer carts I’ve seen, including GPS. Great value and the people were also very nice. The bar was full after our round. Can’t recommend Deer Park enough and will definitely be back to play it as soon as I can.
Well Kept Course
I play here a lot. The description of the course is a bit misleading. It does not have bent grass fairways and greens. And the "peace and serenity of the natural woodlands" is rudely intruded upon by the outdoor speakers playing insipid pop country music. However, the course maintenance is excellent. The traps are of decent quality, trimmed well and raked daily. The rough is cut fairly low and easy to escape from. A few long par 4s will leave the average golfer hitting 3 wood into the green. The greens are usually rather firm and putt true with average speed. There is no longer a pro shop so the bar acts as the check-in point to play. Carts are in very good shape and have GPS. The kitchen is no longer in use. Bring a sandwich or a power bar in your bag.
Well maintained but a bad experience
Good: Course was in great shape
Bad: Despite our foursome finishing all 18 holes in 3:27, we had a ranger tell us we were playing too slow and the group behind us were actively hitting into us. As a group of friends from different areas who can only meet up a limited number of times and wanted to play a new course, this treatment made the experience significantly worse. Add that to the boring hole design and closed restaurant on a Saturday mid-afternoon and I would not choose to play here again.
Good condition
Cource was in great conditions for early spring.
Layout is crazy..Alot of back n forth from front nine to back nine.
Helpfull staff, but need more signs so u don't get lost.
