Golf for Mothers' Day
We played 18 on the South Course at Silver Lakes for my Mothers' Day outing. It was not crowded at all. Pace was excellent. No one was in front or behind us. The course itself was in good shape. For the most part the holes were pretty straight forward. Decent amenities. Beer cart and restrooms readily available. Choice of beverages was limited to beer or soft drinks. Food limited to hotdogs and brats. Over all a pleasant round on a beautiful day with my family.
Great course for great price
I've played the North Course two times this season and have had a great experience each time. The course flows nicely and is well kept. The cost is hard to beat for the quality of play.
Good course for the money
The course is always in playable condition. The North course has some very long par 4's and 6 par 3's.
Nice fairways and greens
Nice fairways and greens but the greens on this day were very fast I would play this course again of course it is not one of the higher courses but enjoy the day
Slow greens and slow pace
Played Silver Lakes South course on an unseasonably warm afternoon (65 F) in late February. Only got in 11 holes because course was packed and pace of play slow. Saw ranger on hole 1 and never again. Saw beer girl once and never again. Blue tee markers nowhere to be found. Cart ball washer/brush empty. Greens very slow which allowed for aggressive putting. Overall, course in good condition especially for this time of year but an unimpressive experience.
Could Be A Great Course
This course had a nice layout and I was looking forward to playing it! I play approximately 160 rounds of golf per year in Indiana. The courses are maintained well in Indiana based on the seasonal timeframe. This course was not in the best shape. I booked through Golf Now. The starter didn't keep an accurate account of their golfers, so it was over-booked which caused long wait times. I paid for 18-holes but was only able to finish 9, which still took me 3-hours. The starter didn't have me on the schedule and stated that he printed the golf reservations at 5am. A lot of people book tee times last minute depending on their schedule. I booked 4 hours in advance. The staff was not prepared and it's unfortunate. It seems like it could be a great course!
November golf
Good deal, great weather , course still in good condition!
South course in great shape for the time of year
First time playing the South course. It was an enjoyable round. The course was in great shape for November golf. Grounds crew kept the leaves in check for the most part. Staff was friendly. Course was not at all busy on veterans day. That 200+ yard par 3 is a tough hole but at least it has a drop area.
Silver Lakes - North COurse
Considering it was early November in the Chicago area and 75 degrees was a plus. Silver Lakes always has there courses in great shape. We played 18 holes in about 3:45. The course is too difficult, but there are some challenging holes. We paid $17 with a cart.
Silver Lake North
Course in excellent condition, pro shop very accommodating, and dining room personnel very helpful for disabled veteran.
Silver Lake North
Course is very nice. Excellent conditions. The 1st tee was fairly full, and I was by myself. The starter Jim was very helpful and suggested I tee off on the back. That worked great and I played in about 3 hours. This course is definitely worth playing. Not going to be on the 100 best you can play list, but it is interesting with several interesting holes and normally in very nice condition. I would say both high handicappers and serious golfers would enjoy it.
Silver Lake - South
Course is always in great condition. Staff is as friendly as it gets. Course was playable even after a lot of rain.
