Deerfield Golf Club

Called ahead to advise I would be a few minutes late due to traffic. Once arrived, pro shop wanted to charge me an additional $6 for a "private" cart. I replied that my prepaid Teetime included 18 holes and a cart, not 18 holes, A cart and another player! The course itself, especially the front nine, has some narrow fairways. The rough is thick and often lined with trees, making it difficult to locate your ball. End result is slow pace of play. On the positive side: Greens were in excellent condition.

Fall golf alert. hole #3 is closed for bunker renovation so know that you’ll be playing 17 hole the rest of the year. And they were digging up the fairway on 10 and not sure if that’s a temporary thing or if they’re going to keep doing that the rest of the fall. If I had hit the fairway, my ball would’ve been in one of these holes they were digging up. I wish they would tell you that on GolfNow prior to booking. They used to do that all the time about 10 years ago and I guess they’re doing that again.

I play here about once a month and it’s a solid course especially for the convenience of being closer to the city. Usually in pretty good shape and big fast greens. Course is hit or miss on pace of play but usually does back up after the turn. Not sure if it’s because of people taking a long time getting in/out of the clubhouse since it’s not that convenient.

If you can get it for a good price, it’s a great place to play. Their standard price is high but for the convenience of it, it’s a great option as long as they don’t close a hole or 2 on you.

Nice layout and well maintained. We played after a day of significant rain. Drainage was poor and course was very soggy and muddy. Would recommend the course if 294 traffic noise won’t distract you but not after it rains. Give it a day or two to dry and drain.

This course is in excellent condition with a great variety of hazards, well manicured, tough greens and very enjoyable.

The Pace of play was slow but it was hard to be mad playing on a course of this caliber. I will definitely visit again.

We were stop because of heavy rain during the play.

This course is fantastic overall - very well maintained with a fair amount of challenge. After playing here a couple times I’ve made a couple observations. Friday/weekend pace of play can range from 4-6.5 hours for a full 18 without breaks. I felt obligated to write this review because I fell victim to inclement weather after buying a hot deal days in advance (no bad weather forecasted when booked). A storm rolled through after we finished 9 holes mid afternoon and I was worried I wouldn’t play all 18 holes before sunset. Courses offer ZERO refunds for GolfNow hot deals if a storm delay happens without the course closing entirely. Buyer beware, only buy a day or 2 in advance and make sure the weather forecast stays the same. Fortunately we were able to finish the back 9 before sunset after waiting 45 minutes for the storm delay. The rain caused a miserable back 9, but this would be the case at any other course too. I would definitely recommend this course otherwise.

Second time playing this year. Condition today was much better then in May. It’s a busy course but it seems like most are good golfers. We didn’t have to wait on any holes and weren’t been pushed by anyone either. If you live in the area it’s worth a try.

I have played this course many times and I like it a lot.

HOWEVER

this time we were approached on the 13th hole by a woman from the clubhouse telling us to pick up the pace of our play.

I told her we would play as fast as we could but we will not hit into the group in front of us.

She kept repeating what she said and I told her to talk to the group behind us because they were hitting into us on every green.

I reported it in the clubhouse to the manager after we finished playing in 4 hours and 14 minutes even though we had to wait for the group in front of us many times.

He said not good enough, you should play under 4 hours!

I told him what I thought and left.

It will be a long time before I go back again.

Course was in great shape, greens were super fast. Pace of play slowed to a crawl at 10. Otherwise a great course, in awesome shape.

The course itself is pretty solid and the fairways and greens were in really good condition, but it's a bit overpriced & their policy of requiring that every person pay for a cart fee, even if you want to walk, is absurd (I even called the pro shop and the attendant confirmed that this is their new policy).
