Odyssey Golf Course
About
Odyssey Country Club is a challenging layout that was designed by Harry Bower and two-time U.S. Open winner Curtis Strange. Strange won in 1988 and 1989, putting him in the company of only six others in the century-long history of the U.S. Open. His influence is apparent in all the strategic elements of the golf course as well as the risk-reward options. This demanding layout is not exactly beginner friendly. Staying on the fairways is crucial or your ball will be met with deep rough. Water is also a prominent presence on the golf course. Twelve holes either feature a water hazards or play along the water's edge. Odyssey Country Club's 16th hole is memorable for its tricky island green, which naturally draws comparisons to the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

Odessey
When I called they said you better book now the bookings are going fast. When I got there it was empty.
They will not let you take the carts in the parking lot. It's a long walk to your car with your cluba
s.
Good value for the money
Paid $44 and finished my round fairly quickly with a nice pace of play.
In Tough Shape
I hadn't played Odyssey since back when it first opened and was excited to play there again because I recall it being challenging. The staff in the Pro Shop and outside the Pro Shop were helpful and friendly when we checked in. My first thought was that it seemed really desolate at the course and around the clubhouse (it was a Monday afternoon). Then after playing a hole or two me and my playing partners all commented on how beat up the course looked. There are parts of the course that are in okay shape. The setup is unique and challenging. However, it is generally in rough shape. We played the entire round and never once saw a groundskeeper or attendant caring for the course. In addition there were many weeds (clover etc.) in the fringe off the fairway. The greens have many ball marks on them and the bunkers are inconsistent in their quality. I think it is just suffering from lack of TLC. Unfortunately, I won't be back soon. I think that is why the price was so low. It's unfortunate because it is a nice location and nice setup.
Monday Odyssey
Haven't played Odyssey in many yrs. Course was in good shape. Played there due to Golfnow Coupon. Couldn't understand, though, how a nice course like this does not provide seed mixtures eihere on the cart or at the tee boxes to fill the divots. It's a shame. The course would have been very nice if not for the divots all over.
Could be better
. If you want to putt through geese leftovers, this is the course for you. The geese don't even move. Putting is so awkward, and I really loved putting through geese leftovers. I was disappointed. Making up your mind, are you a wedding chapel or a golf course. Seriously, four weddings in one day.. It's weird to drive through someone's wedding with a golf cart.....
Very challenging
Great course very challenging good price great food.
Don't pay more than $35
Way overpriced!
I paid 35 with golfnow. Don't pay more! Not worth it! Fairway bunkers are mud. Greenside are crusty. Too many bare spots on fairway. Greens okay.
Never Again
Water is Tidy Bowl blue. Sand traps are a joke.Long day on bad course.Rough leads to loooong waits!!!! Would not play here for free!
Expected more
I played Odyssey for the first time this year. last year played 3-4 times and the course has taken a downward spiral. the greens were full of divots, the sand in the traps were as hard as I seen and the tee boxes were in bad shape.
For the price I expected what I got last year a good well maintained golf course.
Good course that needs some work
As with most courses in the Chicago area, the Odyssey golf course had a long hard winter. The fairways were quite beat up and patchy with a lot of bare spots. The greens and tee boxes were in ok shape. I thought the layout of the course was well thought out and makes you use all the clubs in your bag.
The staff at Odyssey was fantastic. I somehow booked a hot deal through Golfnow.com for a Tuesday and showed up on Monday. The course was closed due to a large outing, but they worked around it and had me start on #13 and play through. I felt like I was the only one on the golf course. Again, I was especially floored by the courteousness of the staff. They went above and beyond what I expected to make sure I had a great experience.
Overall, it is a good course that needs some TLC from this horrible winter we endured. I expected it to be in better condition than it was, as many other courses have rebounded faster. I will play Odyssey again in a few months because of the staff and hope that the course has found its way back to what I have heard it should be.
Every Hole Is The Same
The golf course was in pretty good shape. The rough was cut down but looks like it can get pretty thick there if they grew it out. The greens were very good - they were probably the only reason I would play this course again at some point - though I wouldn't pay more than $40. To me, the course didn't have any distinctive features that make me remember any holes - except for the 16th has a cheesy 'island' green - I do remember that. The carts were filthy. All in all, the round was enjoyable and the pace of play was good.
Odyssey Golf Course
I played this course on a weekday, Wednesday afternoon. The staff was very courteous and paired me up with a father and son, which made the round quite enjoyable, seeing that I was a single. We played the course in about 4 hours and really had nobody ahead of us till hole number 14 and those gentlemen allowed us to play through, which was very kind of them. The course was in fairly good shape, I would say about a 7 on a 1-10 rating, the greens were browned out in several areas, but the ball still rolled true on those areas. The course has one hole, number 14 , which is short but extremely hard, it should almost be considered unfair. But all in all I enjoyed the course, especially the price, which I obtained from Golf Now, what a great program. As a retired person Golf Now is a great program to golf at reduced prices and it puts golfers on the courses, which is good for business.
Pace of Play Issues
2 hours and 45 minutes for the back nine on a Tuesday during the day. Lots of retirees that have no urgency and do not allow players through. Clubhouse does nothing to encourage faster play.
Great view
The course was in great condition and very scenic. I truly enjoyed my round as well as my golf partner.
A beautiful course with wide fairways and tight approach shots
I really enjoyed my round the staffing was great very positive. I had never played the course and was pleased to see the great condition of the fairways and greens. It was a light rain and 45F so the course was wide open. The greens rolled true and were in fine shape. I liked the shape of the holes. the Par 5's had lots of left to right and right to left shots fun course.
HAD A GREAT TIME ENJOYED THE COURSE .
LATE IN THE SEASON COURSE STILL IN GOOD PLAYING CONDITION PLUS FREE COFFEE!
Awesome but for $45!!!
Course was in great shape, staff was really friendly. If the weather holds up I will definitely be back out there this year.
Not worth the money
5+ hour round. No one to keep people moving. Course needs attention and the Golfnow rate was the same as their winter rate
Not a bad weekend
Golf course was is good condition, flower beds need attention from weeds. Otherwise course was in great shape for this time of year. Thirteen, fourteen did me in on a great round. Beware of the doglegs.
Beautiful and great course
This is one of my favorite in Chicago area. The course is beautiful and well-maintained. Some courses have difficulties but mostly moderate.
