Odyssey Golf Course
About
Odyssey Country Club is a challenging layout that was designed by Harry Bower and two-time U.S. Open winner Curtis Strange. Strange won in 1988 and 1989, putting him in the company of only six others in the century-long history of the U.S. Open. His influence is apparent in all the strategic elements of the golf course as well as the risk-reward options. This demanding layout is not exactly beginner friendly. Staying on the fairways is crucial or your ball will be met with deep rough. Water is also a prominent presence on the golf course. Twelve holes either feature a water hazards or play along the water's edge. Odyssey Country Club's 16th hole is memorable for its tricky island green, which naturally draws comparisons to the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

Challenging
This course has some challenging holes, requiring strategic shot placement. Well designed layout .
Tensome?
Loved the course, but round turned into torture when a tensome, yes a tensome, slowed play to a crawl. Poor ranger kid had to try to break up the tensome, felt bad for him. Will play again early am to avoid the frat party.
Overall nice layout, greens need lots of work due to unrepaired ball marks

Not what it used to be
I get it. This week has been blazing hot. I can get by the dry areas. The greens however, Odyssey should be embarrassed. If you're going to keep soft greens, that's wonderful. The problem is that if you don't manage people repairing ball marks, or if you don't fix them as apart of your daily grounds keeping, it leads to horrendous conditions. I've never seen a 6 foot putt bounce around the way these did. I love this course and its design, but it's in the most disappointing conditions I've seen this year. The carts are even beat up, the tee boxes are rough as well. If you pay for than $30 for this course. You'll be angry you did.
Great Value
I had heard from a friend that the course was in rough shape at the beginning of the season. I saw a deal come across on golf now that could not be passed up. When we got on the first tee, my friends assessment could not have been more wrong. The fairways looked as if I was the first golfer on them, the greens were some of the best in the Chicago suburbs, and you never lost a ball due to the mowing. I would play this course again in a heartbeat even at the normal price of 50$. The staff was great even the grounds crew if they saw you coming they cut the mowers, very respectful. Plus the Island hole was great. Truly a great value.
a great layout but needs help
not a single ranger on the course. super slow play. the entire staff of high school kids. despite record rainfall, the turf is thin and yellowing. the cart was badly in need of repair.
Good layout,fair conditon, no ranger
Clubhouse staff, starter, beverage cart staff all very nice. Played twi-light. 1st 7 holes (twosome) 45 minutes. Last 11 holes, after we caught non twilight groups, 3 hr 45 minute. No ranger.
Fun course, good layout. Condition overall ok but a little rough around the edges. Concert at ampetheater in progress during round. Sound very clear during round, no bother, but unusual for golf. Wedding ceremony in full swing about 100' away when we played 18th. Listened to vows competing with ampetheater music while putting out. Strange contrast.
Would recommend twilight or discounted round, maybe not full fare.
Strong course, green upkeep needed though
Very good course that chalenges all skill levels. There is the right combination of water, trees, and sand to navigate around on each hole. The greens were in poor condition and I have never seen so many unkept ball marks before. This was the only blemish on the course I found.
unusually bad shape. try later in the season
I have played this course many times in years past and it is usually in pretty good shape. however this time it may have been in the worst shape I have ever seen any golf course. there were weeds and dandelions all over the course even in the fringe. I couldn't believe how bad it was especially given the somewhat premium price they are charging. Should be discounted until they get the course in decent shape. Barely playable in it's current condition
Not long, but each hole has challenges
No easy holes. Some holes are longer than listed because of dog legs. Almost impossible to roll up to greens because of thick grass around all greens. Greens vary in size with some small and hard to hit and stick. Greens are neither fast or slow.
excellent
the course was in excellent shape, the greens were fast and true, the pace of play could have been faster, but other than that the experience was good
great day, starter was great letting my wife and I play as a twosome which always makes her more relaxed..
Once again thanks to the starter who zipped us to the front so my wife and I play as a twosome. We play fast but she's always more relaxed when it's just the 2 of us. Thanks again!
Good course for the money
Well kept course and challenging. Friendly people at a good price, hard to beat that combination.
Nice Course, Lots of Water, Nice Greens
Course was in amazing shape for middle of Nov.! I was extremely surprised in how nice the course was for this time of year. Both the fairways and the greens were in pristine shape. The savings were almost as shocking as the course conditions. Golfing a $62 course for $16 is always a plus. I highly recommend this course to anyone who golfs, beginners or scratch players.
A bit wet but otherwise good experience
A good day on the course. We moved right along. First time playing here so a couple of holes were tricky. Would definately come back.
Odessey
The 3 1/2 hours to play was because we only had 2 players. Actually finished in about 3. No one in front of us.
Must Play
Great course make sure you play from correct tees.Staff very friendly. Great value will play again.
the course is a bit worn out in spots
Great modified links track, with GPS assiting. A few of the holes are a bit crimped because of real estate limitations. Pace of play is always good. With a little more care, this would be an amazing place to play...
Nice course close to Chicago
Very nicely maintained course. My friends keep going there even without me booking for them:-(
Challenging but fun!
Course is excellent. Great service from Cart Attendant!
