Mystic Oak Golf Course
About
Mystic Oak Golf Course in Waterloo has a diverse layout that seems to play a little differently each time you're on it. The layout features long, winding fairways and gently sloping greens, which are framed by a slew of strategically placed bunkers. There are also many water hazards that come into play throughout the golf course. The gently rolling terrain has subtle ups and downs that provide tricky uneven lies. The back nine is uniquely divided into three par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s each. The golf course will test your short-game skills but the lengthy par 5s offer driving opportunities for long hitters as well. Mystic Oak Golf Course is player friendly enough for a wide range of skill levels but you may be surprised to find yourself using all the clubs in your bag.

A nicely laid out course that will improve as the weather improves.
Played the course after rainy and cold spring. In decent condition but expect it will improve once the late spring, summer weather arrives.
Very picturesque and nicely laid out.
Play from the back tees, and the par 5's and par 3's are certainly a challenge for everyone. Par 4's are short but require an accurate tee shot. Tough rough to play from.
If this course was in a little better shape, my 3 stars, would be a 4.
My favorite golf course in the area
Each hole has its own unique challenge and is memorable in and of itself where other golf course i go to alot of holes are pretty much the same
The OTHER Course in Waterloo
Mystic Oak (formerly the Ridge) is a good course to play. The layout is challenging enough and the staff is super accommodating. I always enjoy playing M.O.
Last year, as the hot dry summer wore on, this place turned into an absolute dog track. Even at $21 for 18, it was not worth the deal. I decided to withhold judgement until this season to see how well the bounced back. Lots of courses have had problems in the past and when the issues are weather related, there is no quick fix and things can go downhill in a hurry.
I am happy to report that I now have another reason to drive to Waterloo again. The course is looking like it has made a good enough recovery to justify a $27 weekend tee time (and then some).
If Annbriar is too expensive or too crowded, play Mystic Oak. It's not as nice (nobody claimed it was), but it is a good play nonetheless.
I will play again.
Good condition, greens under repair
We had a great time, but the greens had been super air-ated and were not really playable.
The course has a few challenging holes.
The course was in good shape. They just aerated the greens a few days before we played. The pro shop told us up front & warned us about the greens. It was no problem, we just wanted to get out & play. Had fun. Caution- watch out for the white swan. It's very aggressive.
Fun course, decent shape for this time of year.
The course was in decent shape for this time of year. I would like to come back later in the year to see how it fills in. The greens were pretty good shape. We played in 3 hours and 15 minutes, not too bad.
Staff very friendly.
Got a very cheap rate for 18. The course was in decent shape, greens were a little rough and slow but it's only March so not unexpected. Like the black swans.
enjoyed a cool day
It was a rather cool day (around 40 degrees) when I started, so I was the only one on the course over the front nine. Not the most difficult course by any means, although there is enough water and trees around, that you can get into plenty of trouble. Course has 5 par 5's, with only one of them that is reasonably reachable in two, for an average type player. Greens are currently tough to putt (winter time), but decent in the summer. Very fair for the price, would recommend to play it at least once.
Fun but challenging course, good layout.
Good course conditions, friendly staff, good selections on drinks/food at the bar.
This is a GolfNow Deal
My friend and I played here for 15.00 each so the value was extraordinary. For late November, the course was in good shape. The course was fun to play for the price but if you really want to find a course that is challenging in the same locale go over to Annbriar
Nice layout, just the bad part of season for course conditions
Love the staff; love the course. FAirways and greens were just a little rough, but it is late fall in St. Louis.
Getting better
Have played this course many time and seems to be getting better over last year.
Very dissappointed in the course. Use to be one of my favorties to play.
The course is easy with a couple of challenging holes, but it can be fun. However, I will not return until they can fix their fairways. Right now they are really just weed infested patches of ground. Even that had not been mown in ages. I lost a couple of balls in the "fairways" I hit. Most of the greens were fine with a couple still suffering from last summers heat. The staff was very friendly and I felt sorry for them for working at place that did not offer a good product. If they can fix the fairways this would be one of the nicest courses in the area for the money.
Give this track a run
This course is in great shape, recovered nicely from summer heat. Staff is super friendly and told me that new ownership is striving to bring this course back to top notch shape. For the price this is a fantastic course. Nice scenery and the lake by the club house has black swans, I never seen such a thing. Also try the turkey melt sandwich in the black swan restaurant.
Lots of Risk Reward Holes
This course was a great change of pace from what we usually play .....lots of Risk reward holes...We will be back...Tricky if you've never played it
Great value for a well maintained course with some very interesting holes.
Fun, relatively short course with some interesting holes keep the course challenging but still allow for good scoring opportunities. Greens were in nice shape but the fairways were a little long. Overall a great value. Very under rated.
Good course in need of some attention (water).
The course itself was good and the price was great, but it was in absolutely appalling condition. I don't know when it was last watered but it was like playing on concrete. One hole was completely unplayable - you had to hit across water and had a landing area for your ball of about 40 yards wide and 50 yards long - a challenging shot at the best of times but when your ball bounces like it hit the cart path it is impossible to keep it out of the trees! If they water the course and get it soft again (and grow some grass) then I am sure it will be a good course again, just beware of playing here in the height of summer, particularly if it's as tough a summer as this one!
