Annbriar Golf Course
About
Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo is one of the top 10 golf courses in Illinois. The course was built on rolling farmland covered with native wild grasses. The layout eases you into the challenges with a links-style front nine that is less demanding than the back nine. The fairways are invitingly wide but if you miss them, you'll be faced with thick fescue. The back nine takes advantage of the surprisingly undulating terrain, which is unexpected since just across the river the land is almost totally flat. Annbriar's signature hole, the par-4 11th, was voted the best hole in the St. Louis area. From an elevated tee, golfers enjoy a stunning view as they play down into a valley. This hole is also the no. 1 handicap hole on Annbriar Golf Course.

Premier rates should mean premier course
Plain and simple! Why is there rocks and gravel all over greens making for pinball rather than putting? No excuse! Someone screwed up and they didn’t get to fixing it and left it for those who paid to struggle. I don’t pay to golf and get half the course in good shape. Not sure I’ll be back!
First and last time
The pace of play was horrible. Due to cart path only and 10 minutes between tee times, we had 4 groups on some holes. Sometimes it’s not about the profit. Luckily there are many other courses to play.
Beautiful Course
This was my first time playing at Annbriar. It definitely is a beautiful course with a solid layout but a couple of tricked up holes I didn't care for. However, if it's path only you are going to have a major walk up and down very steep hills. it was difficult in the heat and I probably wouldn't play there again if it was path only. If it's cards going everywhere I'm definitely coming back!
First and maybe last
Played on 7/13/26, cart path only, 2 1/2 hour front nine and we walked off at thirteen after another 2 hours. Pace of play was horrible and I understood you need to make money, but every 10 minutes creates a 5 1/2 to 6 hour round. Bye bye and plant of other courses.
Hidden Gem
In my top 5 favorite courses I’ve played. Loved the design and layout.
Ambrier
Course was in great shape as usual. Sr rate was good
Great as always
Best public course in metro area. Would put it up against several private courses.
Best St. Louis Course
The best public course in the St. Louis metro area.
Hidden Gem
This course is truly a hidden gem, and well worth playing. You may not be happy with your score as the rough in penal, but you’ll be glad you went as it’s a fun and beautiful course.
Outstanding
The course was in great condition. The layout is challenging, but very fun to play.
Great layout and very good conditions
The front nine is links style and the back nine is through hills and trees. It is a stunning course with the fairways and green immaculate. The ruff is thick and in good condition. The traps are playable yet not of the same pristine condition as the rest of the course.
Some Rough Areas On The Course, Pace Of Play Unacceptable
Annbriar has a few rough areas mostly on the front nine. Tee boxes 1 & 7 & fairways 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 & 9. Now they are having issues in the fairways on 14 & 16. Left side of fairway 14 has some bad erosion. Looks like they are going to lay now sod on some of the tees on 13 & 17. Seems like they should lay sod in the rough areas of the fairways. The rough areas will not ruin your round but it just takes away from the aesthetics of a beautiful golf course. The greens are excellent and the rough is solid and dense.
There was no ranger and pace of play was unacceptable. Took 5:10 to play. Many times, 2 groups on a hole.
Annbriar now has bottled water in coolers by the 4th and 13th green. There was no water in the cooler on the 13th green.
Annbriar is still a great course and you should play it. Just get an earlier tee time, so pace of play is not so much of an issue.
