St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
Long
Jesmek course is long even the par threes but for most part fairways are wide. That being said it can be a challenging course. I swear the greens break uphill.
ALWAYS LIKE PLAYING COURSE
THOUGHT I GOT GOOD VALUE FOR MY BUCK, GOLF NOW WERE VERY GOOD TO DEAL WITH. RECOMMEND TO MY FRIENDS. THANKS.
A fun round on a cool day
The course was in good shape for winter time
staff was very friendly and golf cart were covered at no extra charge it was a good value at a fun course
Both the courses here have long par 4's and tricky true greens.
This couse was maintained well but not pristine. The long par 4's make it more challenging and makes up for only having 3 par 5's. If your into winter golf this is the place to go. They are open year round and they cover all their carts with zippered shrouds that keeps you windless while driving and provides you some warmth. Watch out for the OB and some of the distances play longer than measured.
Golf course maintained a good condition.
Everybody was friendly and the course was well maintained.
Course was in excellent condition for mid November.
Played on November 21. Early morning fog didn't really clear until the 14th hole. But only lost one ball due to the fog. Course is still in good condition, even for late November. Played on the #1 course.
Great bargain - we played extra holes at one price!
St. Andrews' courses are solid tracks - and it's incredible how their conditions are - given their year-round availability. Sadden with a lot of trees lost to a recent storms - lost some of the charm and character on certain holes, especially on Hole 13 - Course #1. Tough to replace those old majestic oak trees. Overall, good playing conditions - especially for late November!
Greens were not cut close
Joe Jemsek Course
Greens could have been cut closer for a better roll.
Good rate from Golf Now.com
Carts do have side covers to keep the breeze off of you.
A nice touch for cooler play.
6 hours for a round?
The play was extremely slow. Yet, my wife and I were paired with a couple of great guys, so we did have a good day! 12:15PM t0 6:10PM
Friendly staff and well maintained course
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed playing the Jemsek course. Well maintained, good pace of play and friendly staff. Would recommend to all.
Worst golf experience ever!!!!!!
Had to walk off after the front 9 took 2:50 minutes to play. I went into the pro shop and told them that I was unable to finish do to the the round taking close to 6 hours and asked them for a 9 hole credit. They told me they were sorry and they knew play was slow, but was unable to give a credit. The Jemsek family run business has gone way done hill since the old man passed, customer service needs to be your first priority and obviously they have forgotten this.
Played the #2 course
Not bad, some bad areas, but that should be expected for this time of year. Actually played with an employee. Said the course is open all year, unless snow is on the ground. I didn't know that, I thought that was nice to know, for those very rare days in the winter that reach in the 50's. Grounds crew were out everywhere fixing bad areas and maintaining the rest of the course.
Greens were in fantastic shape
You can spray the driver around but the greens are inviting and slick
Pleasant afternoon of golf
Very enjoyable place to play in the suburbs. We were in town for the Ryder Cup (such a U.S.golf traversty) and found St. Andrews. The course was forgiving but not easy. Some length, a bit of water and large trees made things interesting. It is an older course with a friendly unassuming staff. The unpretentious public course was well maintained. It felt like a Chicago deal for under $40
Great value when Golf Now deals available
2 18 hole courses available here. Both are great. Played 5-6 times here this summer. Always able to find great Golf Now deals available-especially on weekdays.
Good Greens
Enjoyed the round, have played both courses, course 1 is a little more difficult in my opinion, but I think course 2 is a little more picturesque. The greens roll fair...not fast by any means, but they give you a fair roll.
