St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course

About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
Good test
I enjoy both courses at St. Andrews. A good challenge. My only issue is that the rough has gotten a bit high. Too hard to find bslls even just a bit off the fairway. I lost one and found 3 while looking in the rough.
Excellent Golf Experence
No Matter your skill level you will enjoy playing this gem. Well maintained, lots of golf carts, clean grounds with an easy to moderate lay out. Friendly staff! Good food at the turn and a great restaurant/bar for a good food or a beverage afterwards.
deep rough
rough is to deep people driving around trying to find golf balls 2 yards off fairway. Greens need to br punched and sanded always muddy and griany.
Hot, slow round with poor communication
The conditions of the course (fairway, rough, greens, tee boxes) were all in good shape. Everything else about the round was substandard. There is a food stand you encounter after the 2nd and 4th holes. There is no communication that the last chance to purchase food is prior to the 5th hole. The beverage cart was not seen after the 10th hole, which is inexcusable for such a hot day. Teed of 10 minutes late and round took over 5 hours.
Course in Great Shape
Despite a ton of rain the previous two days, St. Andrews had very few puddles and the course was in great shape. My only complaints is I wish St. Andrews had Senior rates and also dropped the price of their carts, which is $17 per rider and higher than other courses. It would be nice to include the cart fee into the green fees and bring the cost down somewhat.
Poor Professionalism
Had to pay for a guest who was just going to watch to play and rent clubs. That’s insane it was $75 for them to watch. Then it started pouring rain on the second hole and was only given a rain check for 15 holes which it should have been 18! Poor service!!
