There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Extremely slow round
I had the misfortune of picking a deal time at the St Andrews Jemsek course where there was a scramble booked prior to my tee time. Round was close to 5 hours. Going forward, I will call to see if an outing is scheduled prior to booking there again.
Pace of play
Too many walker on the weekend. Had to wait over 5 minutes on every shot from tee to green. Will not play this course during weekend.
Course okay, not as good as the hype
Course was in decent shape. A lot of weeds throughout the fairways and rough. Greens were in very good shape. No towels on the ball washers. Great practice facility!
Bad part: Starter and counter person were rude, needing to prove a point and lacked common sense. Tee sheet was vacant except for hours, except for 2 tee times at 10:39 and 10:48. No one teed off for an hour + of me sitting there. I was in 10:48 time. 2 of the members of our group never showed. It was 10:30 and none of the 10:39 group had showed. We asked starter if we could go. No, you need to wait. 10:39 shows up at 10:42. As a twosome, we had to wait for a foursome who was late. The group let us go through after first hole. We didn’t see the foursome again.
St Andrews in West Chicago is in great condition.
The # 2 course was in fine shape.
Fairways were running and the greens were slow.
Rough doesn't seem like much until you get in it.
With Hot Deals with the golf pass discount - this is a great bargain.
Very old course, kept clean, needs some care
I played the St.Andrews track. The course is maintained clean. However, being an old facility, it needs some more attention. The fairway grass is getting worn, needs aeration, more sand and overseeing. There is plenty of weeds - some places more weeds than grass. The divots Arte left as they are. They are so many that they look ugly and sometimes get in the wy of playing
St. Andrews is in Great shape.
St. Andrews has done some remodeling, for the better. Pace of play should pick up.
Played the # 2 Jemsek course.
Fairways and greens and bunkers were outstanding. Tee areas are filling in.
Fairways ran a little always a good thing.
Greens were slower than usual.
New sand in bunkers is great.
I'm guessing this course will play fast and tight in the summer months.
Staff, as always, is outstanding.
Course is a little pricey with cart but price comes back down to earth with GolfNow and Hot Deals especially walking.
Add the the price of the cart and it's still a good deal.
This is a must play.
Early Spring Conditions
Windy but dry day. The greens are coming into shape but the fringe surrounding the greens still need work.
Good course for any level
This course was fun and challenging. The greens were in good shape for early in the year....and tough.. Tree lined fairways, so hit em straight. Not too long, but good.
Early season round.
For march the course was in decent shape. Green were like carpets but at this point they can’t cut them. Bunkers were in great shape. Overall a great place to play.
