St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Golfer Reviews
Good Course
Good course for an average golfer like myself. Friendly staff, and course is in nice condition.
Would like to have seen a snack cart, as it was a hot, humid day. I bring water and chocolate, as I'm diabetic, and never get hassled by the starter.
Crowded, fore and slow
Sunday golf expectations aside, this was a perfect weather day and was crowded. People all over the place. Several times 6-8 golfers in our fairway chasing balls; the course is tight. Ppl yelling FORE all the time and no idea to which direction. Otherwise, condition of course is great - tee to green. And oh yeah, how do you run out of hotdogs???
Sweet!
Love this course! Pro shop staff is the best and greens are awesome!
Better than I remembered
Wanted to play the #1 St Andrews course before an upcoming tournament and glad I did. It was a warm, bright sunny day, and the wind was howling. I typically hate playing in the wind, but we all enjoyed the round. The course was in excellent condition, very green and lush, and the greens were fast and true. The only negative was some wet sand in the bunkers from a recent heavy rain. It's a nice old style layout with no homes bordering the course. Its a par 71 and we played the shorter Gold tees from 5,600 yds and the next White tees are over 6,400 yards. They could use a combo tee box around 6,000 yds for us older players. We finished in 4 hours and had time for a beer in the clubhouse bar afterwards. We also used the driving range before play, and it's my favorite in the Chicago area with multiple areas for driving, putting and chipping. And the $18 hot deal (walking) was icing on the cake. We all brought our push carts and had no trouble walking 18 holes as the course is relatively flat and compact. We'll be back and try the #2 Jemsek course next time.
