Pleasantly surprised
Having played the course only 2-3 times before, I wasn’t sure how it would handle the recent heavy rain. Impressively, it had drained very well. There were no puddles or mud anywhere. The only effect I noticed was that the fairway grass was a little tall. After our round with another couple, we had a pleasant dinner on the patio of the on-site restaurant.
Excellent Value
The course was in great condition, especially for the price. The pace of play was to be expected for a twilight round, and the starter was nice. Would play here again.
Great shape
Played on a Saturday afternoon and the pace of play was excellent for a weekend. No real wait until the back 9 but we were spoiled by that point with how quickly we played the front 9. The course is in great shape and the greens were well watered.
Only negative was the driving range. You hit off mats, which is fine, but very few of the mats had the rubber tees on them which was a pain as you had to pretty much rig up a wooden tee on the mat which didn’t work too well.
Beautiful course...rough weather when I played
Great course to play..unfortunately it was very windy and then it started raining..finished round but the rough conditions did not make it a fun round..still will go back and play if weather is better. food at the restaurant is quite expensive.
Windy, Cool, Drizzle - Spring Golf in Chicago
It’s weather transition time and golf in Chicago can be sunny and warm or windy, cool , & drizzle.
Today was the latter. Nonetheless, the course was in decent shape. Greens still recovering from aeration but puttable. Teamed with 2 other local folks - I live in Kansas City.
The starter was particularly friendly inviting me into the warm startes shack before teeing off 1.
I got a Golf Now Hot Deal so good value for the money
Not quite ready for thecseason
Usual mid-spring conditions. Fairway & rough grass inconsistent. Greens were just starting to grow. Many aeration divot issues with putting. Cart-path only which was unnecessary from a wetness perspective. Also carts & green fees expensive considering 4:30 start time. Holes 1&3 DO NOT use yellow balls as get many range balls which is also.unnerving if not in Fairway or to left. Nice course but some issues.
Poor fairways
The fairways are like hitting off a closely mowed backyard grass. That needs to be worked on. Nice course otherwise
It’s early
It’s early but course plays nice. Sure the pins are on the sides but greens roll nice. Happy to play this early in the season and not have real issues with course conditions. Kudos to the ground crew.
Nice Early Spring Round
I play here when visiting my daughter. The course is challenging enough. Straightaways , doglegs both ways, adequate bunkering and water hazards. The greens are undulating and were quite slow. It’s preseason and to be expected. The grounds crew was out prepping the course for spring opening play.
The renovated restaurant is very nice . Drink selection and beer very good too.
I joined up with a nice local couple who play here regularly.
I like playing here when I’m in town.
