Enjoyed the landscape, speed of play and amenities.

Played this course many times. sawa 12:00 tee time for 24$ and grabbed it.

Well worth it.

Course was in good shape and challenging

Well I decided to take a friend here on a birthday present golf trip.

What a horrible idea. I don't know if you're supposed to call this course challenging I just call it unmaintained.

The first tee there was a twosome that was supposed to go out after us wnd we asked them if they'd like to go ahead of our foursome. They denied the opportunity.

At about the 6th tee box we had the ranger crawling up our butts complaining about the fact that we were 5 minutes behind the pace of play and the twosome had to skip a whole because of us.

Mind you we cleared nine holes in an hour and a half and there was nobody at the tee box behind us either.

Granted I may not be a familiar face but I sure was not made to feel welcome.

For the price and the history, the value and experience did not match and I would never recommend this course to anybody that I know.

Course is in much better shape this year than years past. Good greens and fairways. They really need to level their fairways however. There are many bumps and depressions and they should look to smooth out.

Great old school layout which is a nice change of pace from other courses in the area. The course conditions were awful and the township of Winnetka should be embarrassed. The amount of standing water in the fairways, rough and bunkers was stunning given the amount of time that had passed from the last rainfall. If the course has that big of an issue with drainage then shut it down. Also we booked the round with a cart and on the day of play was told the course was walking only which is fine. However, when asked if the rate was going to be reduced due to no cart we were told the rate is the rate. Not ok and terrible from a customer service standpoint.

Not long but very tight with lots of water and trees if you wonder off the fairways.

With all the rain it has been hard to mow the rough. Now that things have dried out the course is in great shape.

Great value and family friendly with a nine hole par three. Also, outstanding practice facilities.

Nice course, decent layout and in decent shape. Not too challenging and not too expensive.

Website indicated that the roughs would not be mown due to rain which was true .however all the other courses in the area are not nearly as bad as this. It seems they don't have the staff they used to to keep up with things and that they are not clearing the drains. the ponds were in terrible shape and overall pace is terribly slow here. This used to decent but was terribly disappointing even with discounted rate. Would not return.

Excellent Service, nice course. We picked a cold windy wet day, where the rough was deep and lost a few balls but that's our fault. Pace of play was with no delays.

Played after a very heavy rain had to walk course was wet but fun

A beautiful course, with amazing nature, great fauna sightings. The maintenance to the course is not par with its natural beauty, though.

I wish they had earlier hours.

The Good: William B. Langsford design (original nine, C.D. Wagstaff completed the final 9 holes) in the north shore suburbs has retained some of its 1917 charm, with a good variety of doglegs, unique green complexes, and a fantastic little Par 3 course that is great for beginners and seniors. Greens are fun and putt pretty smoothly, even if a little slow. Course includes a modest clubhouse, but an excellent practice facility that includes a huge training center and multiple short game areas. Great finishing hole!

The Bad: Fairways are not in great shape and are really bumpy. On-course amenities are really lacking: very poor signage, limited yardage markers, and no GPS. Some of the holes tend to blend in together and look / feel like you're playing the some shot over and over. There was no on-course service when we played on a weekend afternoon. Overpriced by about $15 for the area.

The Verdict: I'm sure that Winnetka was a very fine course in its day, but there are dozens of public courses in the area that I'd play for the $$ before this squandered Langford track.

Best Hole: The closing 18th was quite the pleasant surprise even though its very difficult. A long, straight away Par 4 with a downhill tee sheet and approach to a double-tiered green.
