About
Crystal Woods Golf Club dates back to the 1950s when it was opened as a nine-hole, par-37 course called Bit O’ Heather Golf Club, which it was known as until 1967 when the course was renamed and completely redesigned, which included the addition of another nine. The par-72 course that exists today tumbles across a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The golf course is mostly wide open, putting it at the mercy of the prevailing winds. On particularly blustery days, Crystal Woods Golf Club is quite demanding. The 12th is the course’s signature and it even has a reputation for being the most difficult hole in McHenry County. It’s tempting to be distracted by the beautiful view from the elevated tee but this tough hole requires your full attention. The double-tiered green rises dramatically from front to back, often demanding three or more putts.

Played on December 27 in Chicago suburbs and was cold and damp, the course was in good condition and the greens were great. Only stuck it out for 14 holes but enjoyed the course
Great course.
I love playing Crystal Woods. I play there a couple times a season. I play in a travel senior golf league and play there once during the season. In my opinion this is one of the best maintained golf courses that our league plays at and we play throughout Chicagoland. I highly recommend this golf course.
Crystal Woods passes the test with flying colors
Perfect day and course conditions highlighted my round Pace of play was great as we made it around in 4 hours . Staff is very friendly, organized and the starter managed the tee times /first tee very well. I don't play here very often but when I do my expectations are of those above and the staff ?course passed the test with flying colors ! . Definitely recommend playing this course if you are in the area.
Solid
I enjoyed it. Mature trees and some challenging holes. Play moved pretty quick for a Sunday morning. I have zero complaints and will put it on my list of places to play
