Reviews
Amazing value
This course is not a Prairie View or the Fort. It’s not going to blow you away with plush greens, valet service, or high-end views. What you will get is an old-school, thoughtfully laidout, fun course that is a tremendous value.
The course is hilly and out in the middle of nowhere. Both features I loved, and can be hard to find in Indy. Some might find the course too easy as it’s only 5500 yards from the tips and all holes are very straight. The Par 4’s are very short, and in some cases driveable. They tended to make up for it with longer par 3’s and 5’s. Still there wasn’t a flat hole on the course which leads to creative stances and blind shots. That’s where the challenge comes in. I found it to be a nice change of pace for central IN.
Best part was the value/quality ratio. No this isn’t a premier course, but they realize that and price it as a bargain. I paid a normal rate of $25 for a 10:30 Saturday morning tee time. Tee boxes weren’t chewed up, greens were fast and unpredictable, and there was a clear distinction of fairways to rough. The quality wasn’t mind-blowing, but the price made the quality seem stellar. If this was in a closer location to Indy, it would easily be a $40-50 course.
It is way out of the way for most, but for someone on the north/northeast side, I’d say it’s worth the drive.
Great day playing a very nice couse.
Grandview, a typical muni course, is surprisingly well maintained. Its a short course which plays really easy, has a fair amount of elevation change, but very little water and virtually no sand. Which means you can score really, really well.
Short Course
Grandview is a classic short course, playing at 5550 from the tips (par 70). Not sure I've ever seen a 65.8/105 rating before, but it makes sense. If you drive it straight there are several par 4's that can be reached or come close from the tee. Lots of rolling hills through the course. All the greens are small circles sloped back to front, but they are rock hard and fast. Even lob wedges just ran when hitting them on approach, so bounce it up classic-links style. Conditions are ok, about what you'd expect going in. Some bare spots in a few fairways where puddles must've done some damage. Most of the sand traps have been filled in but the couple that are still there are like small piles of sand more than what you'd think of as a bunker. Lots of walkers and an older clientele in general. Would be a good course to learn on.
Overall if you find yourself nearby and can get a cheap hot deal then sure, but it's not worth traveling to play.
Good value
Good value as a hot deal. A relatively short, mature course with lots of trees, but very small greens.Greens could've been in better shape. Apparently a lot of people that play this course have no idea how to repair their divots! Would definitely play again.
Challenging but rewarding
Great layout with rolling terrain difficult par 3s a couple over 200 yds used every club in my bag one time or another 3 or 4 holes on back 9 have flood damage but were playable greens very fast but true played with 2 friends had a great time got a great deal on golfnow will definitely play there again and again
Ok
Course was fine not best but not worst by a long shot-- ave. course for average golfers
Nice practice course
It's a good course to work on your game! Not a lot of dog legs, mostly straight fairways. Quite a bit of hills, Overall I enjoyed it
The course was in great shape after all the rain we had for the last week or so.
Not bad
Not a bad little course. It's not long by any means but can be challenging for a more beginner golfer. Overall course was in decent shape.
Nice Course
Liked this little course. A lot of the holes are less than 400 yards which gave me a chance to work on my driving iron. Also really enjoyed the long par threes over 200 yards. Would play it again for sure.
Beautiful fairways and greens for March
The staff along with other golfers were friendly. The course was very well maintained for the month of March. My girlfriend and I had a great time; she even got a HOLE IN ONE on a 120 yard par 3, I believe it was hole #6. We will be playing here again!
