Best course in central indiana
I play dozens of courses in the area and Bear Slide is the best. Thanks to GOLFNOW I usually find a good rate but would pay regular fee for the pleasure.
Two different nines challenge players to use all clubs, the conditions are incredible and the staff is top notch

Amazing Course
One of the best courses in Indiana! Absolutely love the pace of play and challenge of play. Try to play here at least 5 times a year and it never gets old!

Second time playing
Golf now for the win again. 35 bucks for a round. Def play again when another deal comes along.
The course superintendent. As I have seen every sunrise on the course since early April, and most for the last 20 years, I kind know a little bit about the place. Please check us out on Facebook, Bear Slide Golf Club Grounds Maintenance, to see just how much our small staff does not do to try to improve conditions. You may PM me through the Facebook page and I will be glad to hear from you. I would be glad to discuss how not increasing rates for almost 20 years has affected our staff size, half, and the creative and outside the box decisions to the maintenance program that still allow for some pretty great playing conditions given the challenges. The $72 rate of 2002 should be over $120 today. Not $85.

Perfect day to play golf
The course is challenging but fun to play. Lots of hills, slopes, water, trees and rough. The course was not maintained as well as I remember in the past but that's probably due to staffing and increase in supply/gas issues. The staff was very friendly and easy going. The carts are nearing their end of life and do not have GPS. But the environment is scenic with lots of wildlife. It was not very crowded and the tee time special made it very affordable.
You mention the affordable special while knocking the crew for the conditions with one of the few negative comments about their work. Thanks.

Loved the back nine. The day we went was cart path only play. Greens were perfect. Groundskeeper hole placement was well throughout.

Bearslide can be hit or miss
The green conditions are a 50/50 shot. This go around, greens were hard as a rock. Had multiple wedges from 100-145 yards out that would land short…bounce 6-7 feet in the air and roll 10-15 feet . A little frustrating.
Checked the records and .6" of rain that week, so they were not that dry. No golf course superintendent doing it right ever waters for golf shots anyway. Watering is done for the needs of the plant. It is the golfers' responsibility to adjust to the variable daily environmental conditions.
Bovine scat. Those greens are never that hard, especially this spring with April being among the wettest ever recorded for central Indiana.

Good course
Played on a 50 degree day. No one out there. Great course. Will play again. Golf now , I got it for 40 bucks.

Pretty good for Early April
Found a good deal on GolfNow. Paired up w some others. A couple really slow players a few groups ahead but not the end of the world. Course was pretty good for this time of year. Recently aerated but not too bad at all. Love the course and layout!
Sure hope it wasn't the "Hot Deal" and a 4 star. Courses receive $0 of the Hot Deal rate and Golf Now receives 100%.
Late Fall Golf at Bear Slide
Even though it was late November, the course was still in great condition. Fairways were plush, and the greens rolled well. This is one of my favorite courses in Indiana. It is challenging, but fun to play. I highly recommend Bear Slide.
