Sugar Ridge Golf Club
About
One half of Sugar Ridge Golf Club is situated in extreme southwestern Ohio while the other half winds up into the Indiana hills. The border location may be unconventional but the setting provides a dramatic backdrop. The course sprawls across rolling hills that are abundant with wildlife. Wild turkey and deer have been known to roam the golf course. The layout has a few parallel fairways though the trees, and hills give each hole a completely secluded feel. The back nine feels more open than the front, but that may only be because of the ponds and lakes that come into play on many of the holes. Throughout Sugar Ridge Golf Club, golfers will find that the par 3s are fairly straightforward and the par 5s have sloping, uphill fairways that make them feel even longer. There are a few memorable par 4s, notable for both their scenery and level of difficulty.

Sugar Ridge - Great Course
This is one of my favorite courses to play. Even though it was really soggy the Sunday we played, the greens were in fantastic shape. You could hear the fairways drying up while we were playing. Pace of play was great; our threesome finished up 18 in a little less than 4 hours. The sand traps they replaced/filled in late last year look great (especially on hole #13 on the right side of the green).
Extremely friendly clubhouse personnel.
Course will test every part of your game. Front 9 has three par 5's and you need solid iron play to get on the greens in 2 on the par 4's. Greens are in very nice shape but tough depending on pin placement.
Back 9 has quite an eclectic group of par 4's, one par 5 that plays like #9 does on the front and the par 3 #18 is always a lot of fun to end the round on.
Only 2 "complaints": some portions of the cart paths need to be upgraded and one or two of the tee boxes need some tending to (i.e. hole #3).
Great course.
Late Fall at Sugar Ridge
The course was in very good condition for this time of the year. The people are very friendly and cordial. Enjoyed the experience!
Excellent winter and late fall course
Course condition lends itself for play during winter and late fall. Greens are smooth for accurate putting. Leaves have been moved from mowed fairways
Review.
Great fun on a november day..course played great..greens in excellent shape.
Very Enjoyable
Course was in good shape for so late in the season.
hidden gem
This course has improved this year. Greens and fairways are in great shape. What I enjoyed the most about this course is that there are not 2 holes with the same layout. Bunkers still need a lot of attention but overall the course is in very good condition. I played in several courses this year and Sugar Ridge is near the top in overall condition. Lots of wide life on this course. This course should not be walked. There are long distances between several of the tee boxes.
Nice course but needs a little attention
I enjoy playing this course when I am alone or playing in a two some. It is a little confusing because there is not a good flow to the hole layout. It seems that it was a 9 hole course at one time and the back nine was added later. The old 9 holes and new 9 holes are mixed together to create long cart rides between several holes. They have new golf carts that are very slow and adds at least 15 minutes to your round. Renumber the holes would make this a much nicer golfing experience. Bunkers could use attention and several tee boxes have more weeds than grass.
Overall this course is challenging with no 2 holes being similar. You will use every club in your bag. Be prepared to lose a couple of golf balls. There is plenty of wooded areas and fairways that slope causing a good shot to end up on the woods.
There is plenty of wildlife on this course.
Enjoyed the round
I am basically a bogey golfer. I had 2 birdies and shot 83. The course was in excellent shape, the fairways were super and the greens were slippery, the way I like. The pace of play was superior as I tend to play faster than most. Would reccomend this course and look forward to playing again.
Course Review
The golf course has great fairways and greens but the cart paths, sand traps and the rough are, on a whole, not in good condition and need to be repaired and upgraded.
course condition
Excellent fairways, greens were good, tee boxes needed attention. All in all great course to play. Very scenic.
Ok , not great
Fairways are very nice. Greens a bit beat up and on the slow side. Cart paths are a joke. You need to slow down every few feet or you will break the cart or yourself. Not a big fan of the guy behind the counter either. It was worth the $10 golf now deal for sure.
Great Course
Great course, awesome staff...I always have a good time playing this course. Staff is awesome!!!
Rain or shine, I'll play nine here
Last round was a rainy Tuesday with threat of storms just southwest of Lawrenceburg, however the generous staff let us and others out on the course to play. After a wet front 9, conditions cleared for a beautiful back 9. Course drained nicely. Nice outdoor bar/grill located conveniently near the turn for quick food/drink service. 30 minute drive from my house, well worth the multiple trips for the multiple rounds I've played here.
Enjoyed playing this course
Fairways and greens in great shape. Tee boxes a little rough. Overall, very good golfing experience.
Awesome back 9 which includes 8 and 9
Sugar is a good deal if you get it for 20 or less. Back 9 is totally different than the front. Back 9 is very nice front is soso. Overall descent place to play.
Nice course
Enjoy playing Sugar Ridge- course is in good shape- fun layout- typical SEIndiana with plenty of hills and valleys--good staff- pace of play is good /-
