Tough conditions
This course was in such fabulous shape this spring...almost too good for a public municipal course. Now? Not good. The fairways have eroded with many widely lacking grass. For many shots we placed our drives on to nearby patch of grass rather than hit off dirt or mud. And while the fairways lacked turf, the rough was monstrous at about 3-4 inches in length making finding balls difficult. It felt like the rough hadn't been mowed in weeks. There also are numerous areas where dirt tire tracks in the fairway and rough indicate maintenance or other golfers took equipment of carts into soggy areas. Perhaps the course has deteriorated in recent months due to rain and heavy use. But it currently is in fair to bad condition.
Great Course
Course is a great hidden gem. Never gets too crowded and the greens are great. Sometimes there can be a lot of bigger groups out but never anything to complain about! I’ve golfed here 5 times in the last 2 weeks!
Good place
I enjoyed the round. Pace of play eas great. I caught up to a group 4 who let me play theough. After never waited until the 17th.
Course was in decent shape. The crew was working on areas so it will continue to improve. Carthad a GPS but it did not work but not really an issue since I use my watch. Greens were good shape and played fast compared to where i play most.

Constantly get behind groups of 5 and 6.

I found it to be a challenge. But fun course nice par 3
Nothing nice
There is nothing nice about this course…nothing! Everything is bad. The condition is bad. The layout is silly. The greens are awful. The pace of play is glacial. If I lived in Madison I’d move to avoid having to play this course. I’ll never be back. I paid $12 with coupons and the course wasn’t worth it.
Good course for value
Only issue really was huge groups in their own golf carts following each other and got in the way a few times. Must have been outing or big match.
Sunrise Golf Course
Played around 10:30. Greens had been aeriated and sand filled the holes. Getting ready for the spring weather. They were cleaned up well. The layout was good. Easy to follow the course to the next hole. I hope to come back and play soon when I’m back to that area. Very friendly pro shop and staff. 41/2 star rating probably 5 when greens are ready for regular play.
