A round thru my past
I grew up in South Bend playing the municipal golf courses, from Studebaker Golf course in our childhood years and then graduating to the big course - Erskine in our teens. I returned this weekend to my hometown and played Erskine for the first time in probably 45 years. It was still in great shape. The classic city course design had not changed at all. And the challenge of the course - dramatic elevation changes and long par three's made this par 70/6000 yard layout as tough as I remember.
Course was in great shape and at $32 for 18 with a cart, the value was the best I've seen in decades.
Thanks to the city of South Bend for preserving these iconic courses. Next time, I'm off to Studebaker to put for nickels with some old friends.
The BEST COURSR Overall!
The BEST COURSE for the the price and great course for all handicap's and is a beautiful view and challenging as well depending on the Tee Box! I Love it.
Thr only Bummer is there is no hot food or Bar for people to hang out and eat.
Otherwise my wife and I play there every week! Sometimes twice!
Always in great shape!
Erskine is always in great shape, fairways and greens. With golf now, they always have a great value of golf. Definitely a treasure as a city course. Surprisingly hilly and enough trees to make you keep your drives straight. Wish there were more water coolers on the course for those hot days.
Course in great shape. They got me out a little early and I joined up with twosome behind me. Great guy and his grandson. Really enjoyed the round.
Excellent Muni
It’s early in the season, so they’re doing a lot of work to the course.
Still played wonderfully.
55°ish, partly sunny
Staff is always terrific.
Fun municipal course.
Great course But Pace of play was slow
We actually ended up leaving after hole 16. We had already golfed for 4 hours, and up until that point pace was fine. It was at a stand still waiting for 2 gentleman with 5 carts backed up at hole 17. We did not want to sit and wait another hour to finish 2 holes.
