Enjoyable round
The course layout and condition was great. We played with a great couple of guys we joined up with. The beverage cart was present often. The biggest improvement items are the golf carts and the bag drop. Nobody was at the bag drop and the pro shop individual said that they couldn’t touch others bags due to COVID. This is an obvious farce since the served drinks in the bar and had flags in the practice putting green, etc. Just using COVID as an excuse to provide less service and save labor cost. Just be honest. Also, the GPS on the carts takes away from the overall experience. The cart quits working when you get near a sand trap and other pre-designated spots and you can’t drive into another fairway to get a ball. Also, there is a constant flood of on screen advertising that prevents you from seeing the distances and hole layout but ensures you know the local realtor office and paint shops. I would still recommend the course to others. Just be aware of these impacts on your experience that you likely won’t have at other courses.
Obnoxious GPS
I've played over 500 different courses and have never been in a cart with a more obnoxious GPS system. The audio and video alarm went off more than 30 times. Not only is this an annoyance, but you continuously need to reset the display. Several times I had to back out of the middle of the fairway. Always beeping before reaching the cart off signs before the greens. Endless ads. I play golf to get rid of this type of stuff. Yes the course conditions were fine, but I'll never play this course again.
Nice value for $36 via Golf Now
I’ve played the course about 10 times. It’s always been in good condition, but it’s the best I’ve ever seen it right now. It’s fairly forgiving from the tee, and the greens are relatively flat. The greens are of medium speed, but roll well. #7 is the hardest hole, IMO. Approximately 470 yards from the tips, water on the right, deep rough on the left, a pond by the green for the approach, and almost always plays into the wind. The par 5’s, #3, #5, #11 are all solid but birdieable. All 4 par 3s are good golf holes-#12 is down hill and short. If it’s windy & the pin is back right, it’s tough to pick the right club. Definitely don’t want to be long there. If you can get a price in mid $30s, it’s definitely worth the trip.
Nice friendly layout
This course is more of Links style course that’s friendly to all playing level. Couple holes have water that comes in play especially since it’s blind shot. Conditions were great and mixture of holes. I’d recommend for everyone looking for nice course that’s not gonna swallow up all your golf balls.
Long course for senior women
Great shape! The greens have recovered very well from aeration and were true and fast. Staff were very friendly. We appreciated their attention to COVID rules for safety. The only drawback is they could use one more set of forward tees for senior women say 4800 to 5000 yds.
Really enjoyable course
Very pleasantly surprised. Fun course. Generous landing zones off the tee. Greens were fast and rolled true. Pay attention to the hole layout on the GPS screen, found my ball in a couple of hazards that I couldn’t see. Follow the warnings on the GPS screen regarding restricted areas, or you will find yourself doing the back of shame.
Good course
The course was in great condition and the amenities top notch. It’s the best course I’ve played in the Des Moines area, equivalent to some 5 star course I’ve played in other areas.
