Bad bunkers
No driving range. But until and unless they address the bunkers, which have the worse sand in all of KC, I doubt I'll be back.
slow golf
caught 2 different groups of 5 people. 1 group was very slow and wouldn't let anyone through and the course was not busy. If this wasn't a common occurrence i would play this course 3-4 times a week.
Hidden gem
Can't believe this course is tucked away in the heart of the city. Excellent shape, fast and true greens. I played as a single and was done with my round in less than 3 hours. Only knock is they don't have a driving range. If you want to warm up, you can hit into a net by the practice green. Not ideal, but a small inconvenience to play such a nice course.
Exciting track with challenges
Challanging course with narrow fairways. Driver can get you into trouble on several holes.
Great place! Staff and course were excellent!
I used a GOLFNOW code and only paid 25 dollars to play, including cart. GREAT course. Even under extreme heat of the day, the course was in wonderful shape. It is a tough course at times, but not really long. VERY FAIR for many levels of golfers. Boxes were in great shape as well.
I got the Tuesday Tacos in the clubhouse. Served by someone who was so beautiful that she matched the beauty of the course.
Definitely a good place to golf. A bit tight, but not impossible.
Unneeded obstruction
It is a tight tree lined course. However, the back tees have many obstructions one must move the ball around off the tee. This turns what could be a fun tough test into a "why would they do that" discussion on various tee boxes. Cut back some of the trees and provide an excellent experience for golfers. No need to be tight fairways, tree lined, and obstruct straight shots off the tee.
A great track......neglected
A challenging course suffering from lack of care and in some cases neglect. Lack of regular , continued maintenance has taken its toll on this once gem in an upscale community. Glad I played on a Hot Deal.
Review
I love the layout, but the players before were not respectful to the course. Divots everywhere. Footprints in all the bunkers. Its to bad as it could have been an enjoyable round.
Great Value/Condition
Will be playing it many more times. Twilight rate is phenomenal. Very friendly staff.
Mediocre at best
After reviewing Deer Creek's website, I was looking forward to a first class course and round. I was highly disappointed. The fairways were in decent shape, but the greens were covered in ball marks and seemed neglected by both the players and the ground's crew. Also, the course severely lacks signage. After exiting multiple greens there were numerous forks in the cart path with no signage to the next tee box. Please stick a simple sign in the ground pointing towards the next tee!! Furthermore, multiple walkways to the tee boxes and greens were dilapidated. Also, 40% of the cart paths had severe cracks, potholes and large pools of water due to lack of drainage and maintenance. The state of the bunkers was pathetic--large pools of water, several feet of Astroturf visible due to neglect in sand refilling). The course was challenging, but based on the lack of maintenance and groundskeeping, I will not return.
Excellent price...
Greens were shaggy, but not terrible. Fairways were in good shape. Short rough, which is always a good thing. $20 for a round after work is absolutely unbeatable!!!
Same old problem
I've played at Deer Creek a handful of times and have always experienced the same problem. Not sure if they can't maintain a logical tee sheet or try to cram too many folks onto the course. Whatever the cause the result is always the same: slow, slow, slow. And this was on a Thursday afternoon! It should NEVER take 5 hours and 45 minutes to play 18 holes of golf.
On the positive, the course is very green and lush right now.
Awesome course
Only second course ive played since moving from Socal. Very challenging and fun to play. Only neg was it should have not been open for play after all the rain. It was a muddy, soggy mess. Will be back after it dries up.
Peace out
Really wet - not the fault of the course
the course was extremely soggy, but with all the rain we've had it's not surprising. Course was the same as I remembered, greens could have been in better shape, lots of ball marks not fixed.
Soggy Conditions Understood, Poor Maintenance is Not
Previously, every time I played Deer Creek it was with friends and they booked the tee time. The course was usually in fair shape and playable. This time, when I came back to K.C., I wanted to book a time somewhere a little better than usual for my family's typical golf outing. We saw the price Deer Creek offered for a weekday tee time and couldn't pass it up. After playing the course, we could see why. The sand traps were beyond "under repair" and in full-on mud puddle status. Although there was heavy rain in the area, limiting the grounds crew's ability to mow in the fairway, the rough could have and should have been cut. Because of the rough length, we spent a good deal of time looking for balls that were only a few yards off the fairway. Plus, I don't think it is too much to ask to notify golfers on golfnow.com that the greens are still recovering from aeration. Lastly, it is not out of the realm of possibility that a supposedly top-tier course such as this would have drainage in the fairways. With a drainage system in place we would not have played mud puddle to mud puddle and the price I payed would have been worth it.
Beautiful Course!
The course was in excellent shape in comparison to several other local courses, and you get your money's worth with this course. Water comes into play on most holes, and this course is definitely challenging.
Fun course design and playability.
The course layout is challenging but fun. Course sets in lowlands and was extremely wet. Carts were on path only which slowed the pace of play. Greens were a bit rough (recently aerated). Weather was good, so a good day to be out of the office.
Great Course
Rained over night so the course was extremely wet and played longer than normal. Great layout with tight fairways, but not that long.
Deer Creek
One of my favorite places to play in KC. The starter always makes me laugh, and not in a good way. The cart girl is very nice and always stopped to see if we needed anything.
