Good shape for December
Playing in December in Iowa is almost unheard of!
Great to be out on a nice course !
Windy but nice
It was windy, but the sun felt nice. One of the better rounds for me this year on this challenging course. Looking forward to being able to play one more time before it gets too cold.
Great Day at HR
We caught an unseasonably warm fall day (high 70s) with a bargain Hot Deal on Golf Now for $20.
Course was in good shape with fall greens aeration all grown in and greens rolling fast. Most of the usual "no mow" rough had been cut down for the season, so it was a bit easier to find some stray shots.
Light crowds so we buzzed around in about 3 hours. The course record was never threatened, but we had a good day anyway.
Love course usually, but a bit rough now
Usually I love this course, however, this time of the season it looks like they are leaving everything a little rough. Greens have been aerated awhile ago and have not rolling quite fair. Fairways are spotty. Fall weather was perfect however, and course was quiet so that made it enjoyable even though the course was not up to its usual.
Best course in Cedar Rapids
I just love this course. It’s challenging yet durable to manage. Greens are always in excellent condition. I visit CR twice a year and Hunters Ridge is always a must play. Try it and you will like and return.
Sand traps need better care
The course was in good shape for the recent lack of rain. Although, it did rain the day before we played, some of the bunkers had mud and/or hard, crusty, packed sand. Some adding of fresh sand and grooming, I feel, would have helped. The few times we did land in a bunker, we would just pull the ball out and continue to play. Other than that, this course is a good challenge and well worth the price we paid!
2 nines
Front nine is fairly traditional rolling fairways big gently undulating greens, Hit driver on all but par 3s. Back 9 is more of a target golf usually only hit driver on 3 holes, fairways about as wide as front except many holes have hazard on 1 or both sides of fairway. Course has bent grass fairways and greens and was in good shape although its not hard to find ball marks on the greens and unfilled divots on the fairway...probably like almost every other course. The course is trying to mow some of the previously no-mow areas which helps to make the course more enjoyable , although expect to loose a ball or 3 on the back 9... Over all an excellent place to play.
Fun Course to Play
This is a fun course to play for a golfer looking for a challenge. Various tee options are available for all types of abilities. Better bring your A game to play back tees. The greens are fast but in excellent condition.
Windy, cold, still in good shape!
It was windy, (15 - 20 mph), cold, (44*), but the course was in good shape considering the rain we had over the weekend. The greens roll a bit fast, but I salvaged a bogey round. Very pleased for the day.
Great course and Staff!
I love playing Hunter's Ridge. I tend to play 2-3 times a week there. It's my favorite course in the Cedar Rapids Area for the price. I normally can find tee times ranging from $12-25 on any given day on GolfNow! For those prices this course can't be beat. The normal greens fees are well worth it, too. But when you can be flexible wth your tee times getting those discounts is almost unbeatable. Nate and his Staff are great. Our Family has a memorial golf tournament every year at Hunters Ridge also, they treat all our guests and players extremely well and have the experience to make your golf outing outstanding. I recommend Hunters Ridge to all levels of players. Challenging holes, great course layout and well maintained greens and fairways.
Tough in the wind
It was a windy day. This course gets real tough on approach shots into the wind. I was fortunate enough to be paired with a very good player, Todd. He hit a 4 iron into a stiff wind 190 yard par 3, to land it 10 feet from the hole. A very impressive shot! Thanks for the memories Todd, enjoy your upcoming vacation trip.
Great layout. Difficult but not too hard.
The course is usually in excellent condition and is definitely worth the green fees. They have a great dew sweeper deal until 11 AM on weekdays.
Best course in Cedar Rapids/Marion
This is a great golf course, but it is difficult. The front 9 is a little bit easier but the back nine is as tough as you could want.
Conditioning is usually very good with quick greens. Pace of play depends on when you go. The rangers are hardly ever seen and if you do see them they don't do anything.
This is a great value for the nicest course in the area. And the pro is the finest gentleman you will meet.
