Members
The ONLY thing that can get in your way at Hunters Ridge is the members. They tend to have an attitude on and off the course and WILL NOT let you play through on the Course. It can certainly ruin a round. I was a single behind 4 4-somes starting around hole 3. They all could have easily let me play through but chose not to. I asked the group in front of me and they said no, I'd just get hung up on anther hole. Golf course etiquette needs a little work on the Members. They normally play in the morning, so I suggest a later tee time.
The best around.
Hunters Ridge has the most to offer of any course in the area. The front will encourage you to play aggressively while the back will test your will to swing easy. The design of the back tempts you to go for plenty of high risk high reward shots —avoid this.
Great practice facility as well. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Highly recommended!
Fun challenging course
A real test for all golfers, especially the back nine. Must plot your way around and pick spots. Get to hit every club in bag and it challenges your chipping and putting. Bunkers are average.....they could eliminate many. Overall, a fun track each time out.
Wet Carts
Arived at the golf course expexting wet conditions after heavy rain two days ago. Club house informed us no carts off the cart path.. no big deal. Started up my garmin gps and put it in the cup holder to load. Looked a minute later and noticed the cup holder that i had put my range finder in had two inches of water in it. The carts have drain holes but apparently this one was was plugged and never checked by the starters. Be sure to check things thoroughly otherwise your phone or other electronics could get fried.
Dear Members
Dear Members and staff. Hunters Ridge is a public golf course that has season pass holders. It doesn't mean you treat public paying players like they don't know what their doing. Our foursome was approached 3x during our front 9 round about members behind feeling we weren't playing fast enough even though at the turn we were in right at 2 hrs and finished the round in under 4. The staff and "head starter" he said, ruined our experience on which should've been a enjoyable day. Remember Hunters Ridge is not a country club, it's open to the public.
This is very relevant!
Great course
Got a hot deal on the Golf Now App for $20. There was nobody out there because it was 45 degrees and 10-15 mph winds. The course was tough but fun.
Good value
Great deal. Nice course fast pace of play. Will be doing this again
Early season golf
Weather wise nice day. Course is in early form. Sticks not picked up yet, grass not prime, yet and so on.
These are things you’d accept , no ball washers yet and food inside just coming inside the clubhouse.
But this course has challenging holes, eventually fast greens and a great staff.
Great Course
Pro is top notch, course is great for all skill levels.
An Above Average Public Facility
I've played Hunter's Ridge proably 20-25 times in my life. Today was my first round of 2018. Overall, it was an enjoyable time and the course played fairly.
The Good: The staff at Hunter's is always really friendly, starting with the head pro on down. Despite the difficult weather we've had this year in Iowa, The Tees, fairways and greens are all in good condition. The course plays fairly fast and firm, and is a little brown around the edges, which I like.
The Average: Hunter's is just an average layout. I really like the first 12 holes. They are more open and linksy. Then it turns into target golf from 13-17. The 13th hole is really narrow with hazards on both sides. 14-16 includes 2 long par 3s and a short risk/reward par 4 that is all risk with minimal reward. The 17th hole is a really difficult par 5 with a semi-blind tee shot that has always seemed out of place to me. Then 18 gets back to a more open/linksy feel.
The Not So Good: The condition of the bunkers at Hunter's Ridge has been a mess for a long time. Sadly they haven't really gotten better. There are a few pot bunkers that should probably just be filled in. Additionally it always seems like they have 1 or 2 pin placements that are borderline silly.
I went back and forth on 3 or 4 stars for this course. I settled on 4 stars because it does have more positives than negatives, and I would recommend playing it.
Great Course
Four of us drove about an hour to play this excellent course. Using GolfNow we played for an excellent price. If you are going to score on here you better get it done in the first 12 holes because the last 6 are tough, including a couple of very challenging par 3's (even tougher in the wind today). The greens were fantastic; very fast but fantastic. I shot 79 but four of those were penalty strokes that I absolutely deserved. We will be back to play again this summer!
hunters ridge
beautiful course, good people, good time. one thing, course does not drain well, went after it rained at night, alot of standing water, sand traps full of water
Nice course
Very nice place to play. Bunkers we the only suspect part. They need to clean them up a around the edges. But overall very nice course. Greens rolled great for the time of year I played. Will certainly go back. Staff was great also!
Not sure where you got your fake account..you might want to read the comment before sharing your opinion. FIRST it wasn’t a weekend, SECOND, the members do that even let you through if you’re a 4some. So you’re evaluation is invalid
Find Three other friends to join you. Playing thru Three groups is not conducive on the Weekends and actually backs things up worse.
