Beautiful golf course
I would highly recommend this course to any golfer. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The entire course was well manicured and just a beautiful golf outing. Great time!!
Go, go now.
Great course, can't wait to go back. Didn't play particularly well, but that ain't the courses fault.
Well conditioned course at the lake
Played Burnside yesterday. conditions were excellent. Zoysia fairways were healthy and full. Greens smooth and medium to medium fast. Bunkers were well maintained with no drainage issues. Fine brown sand with only a few small rocks and a good bottom. Having said that, I have to say I was underwhelmed by the course's layout. Except for a few holes on the back, the holes were pretty mundane. The front nine is packed into a relatively small area and from a couple of high points, like on 9 green, you can see just about the entire 9 holes. A lot of fairly straight holes. The back has more doglegs and elevation changes. #14 is a nice par 3 with a good elevation drop and 15 I think is a par 4 with a significantly elevated tee box.
Someone had mentioned Dale Hollow in describing GBI to me, but it is no Dale Hollow. A very nice course to play if you are in the area, but it is not a destination course in my opinion.
Gen burnside
The course is great and really pretty. The only criticism I have is that there weren't any rangers. I got stuck behind an inconsiderate family playing, and I was a single. They had 2 holes open ahead of them so I would of been nice if they let me play through or a ranger told them too.
I'd highly recommend this course. It's better than most of the ones I play at home.
Great course
The course is in great condition. Walked right in payed and played!
Terrific fairways and greens
Both my playing partner and me loved the course. It offers a wide variety length and challenging par threes. The only problem was those pesky trees that draw my ball towards them, but I can't blame the course for that. The fairways are so lush that it was a bit unsettling when you drive a cart on them. We thought we had a flat or loose wheel until we realized it was just spectacular fairways. We will be back!
General Burnside Island
Course in great shape. Nice fairways and greens. Lots of bunkers and traps.
Short Easy Ky State Park Course
I've played most of the Ky State Park courses and this one is not the in the top 3. Dale Hollow, Eagle Ridge, Hidden Cove and Mineral Mounds rank ahead of this nice but not a championship caliber course. This redone track would probably be too easy for the under 10 handicap golfer. Played about 6300 from the tips but with so many short par 4's and little trouble it was bombs away all day using short wedged into the greens. The course seemed cramped for space with several holes playing very easy. Zoysia fairways and tee boxes were very nice with healthy bentgrass greens. Unfortunately they needed a good cut and roll because putting on slow greens sucks. They were probably rolling around a 5 or 6 on the stimp. Bunkers were good and rough was sparse. As for the staff, she was pretty and friendly with no problems. I did not sample anything from the snackbar but did try to take out a turkey or two on the driving range.
Course
Beautiful views and great course to play. Multiple tees offer all golfers a challenge
Beautiful Course - Worth the Drive!
If you can't hit off of these perfect Zoysia fairways you should quit. Beautiful track. Played on a Monday so can't comment on usual pace, but I will be returning. Greens were outstanding.
wet day
fairways were soft and wet due to overnight and early morning heavy rains. we had to play cart path only due to that. Loved the course, however do not under stand why the greens were still very firm and not holding shots as well as expected.
Excellent contours and plenty of bunkers.
Great course with great greens. Lots of side hill lies to test your game as well as many bunkers. Overall excellent course and very friendly staff.
Very enjoyable course for any skill level.
I have played the renovated General Burnside Island course many times. It should be noted that the course is still "maturing" after the renovation, so the rough is still "growing in." If you put your ego aside and play from the appropriate tees, you'll have a blast. Even from the forward tees, there are plenty of shots to challenge you. From the back tees, better drive it straight. I always find the course to be in excellent condition. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and want you to enjoy your round.
Very good value.
Course was in great shape and the greens were super fast. The sand in the bunkers was very well maintained and challenging.
Great course
Fantastic views and great fairways, great value for the money
Gen. Burnside Island GC is the best Bang for your Buck!
Not only did I get my $$$$ worth, but I was also challenged, awe-struck by the panoramic views and amazed by the fantastic condition the golf course has been maintained. The next time I am down in tthe area, I will definetely make another Tee- Time!!!
This course has a nice balance of challenge and fairness.
This is a fun course to play. The fairways and greens are some the best I have played this year. I love the layout. It is straightforward allowing you see most of the dangers ahead...plenty of sand! I would recommend making the trip to Burnside Island.
what a difference a day makes!
slow players started behind us...and we left them in the dust...
a slow play nightmare
a beautiful golf course being made ugly by slow players who think they are playing the real Ryder cup...of course, a pro would be on the clock, and so should this bunch of hackers who hold up play...and not a ranger to be seen on the course...
Great condition
This course has been gorgeous the entire season. My favorite course in Pulaski County.
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package
Very accurate review. I have also played all of the premier state park courses and would rank GBI 3 or 4.
