Great fairways and greens
The course is pretty tough. The course would be great if there was no clover in the rough. Owner please get rid of clover please.
challenging course
played from the black tees slope 137 par 72.6
drove the ball 250 to 325 off tee box some spots threw 30 yard wide openings. fairways where good shape. greens where great shape
Great condition
The Willows was in great condition, other than a few tee boxes. Greens were receptive and rolled well. A ranger was changing tee marker locations mid-day (11am) which we thought was strange. The group ahead of us played a "different" course.
Pace of play was slow (~5 hrs), although it was a holiday. Assuming pace of play was due to the holiday, I would recommend this course to friends.
Great except for pace of play management
The Golf course is in great shape. Great design. Management of pace of play is pathetic. Not a marshall on the entire facility. When we complained about a two hole gap ahead to the starter at the turn he acted there was nothing they could do. Also, they will not make twosomes join up. You wind up with very eratic and slow play.
Overcrowded
Slow play for early on a Tuesday. Until Fox Run is back in good playing condition, other two courses are going to be over crowded.
Willows: fun, scenic and tough
Front nine is OK but back nine plenty challenge. Scenic, hilly and doglegs. Pretty good conditions for a public course.
Good Time
All four of us had a great time. We enjoyed the course a lot. The back nine was a challenge, but we went there for just that. The people were friendly, the food was good, the day was nice, the price was right, and I was in good company. It shot the lowest score, so that sums up my day! Thanks we enjoyed ourselves.
Real nice course
Course was in great shape. I will definitely play here again.
Nice course
Pin placement made round interesting. Staff friendly. Grass was cut perfectly. Very enjoyable round
this course has a really challenging back nine
The course was in very good condition. The greens were true. I will be back for another round very soon.
Will be closing to reseed
They plan on closing the willows later this summer to reseed.
Greens are diseased
The course is OK. Some challenges. There are hole where there is no landing area - all slope. The traps are horrible - hard pack and old sand/gravel. The greens are in the worse shape of any course in the area. Given the wet spring we've had, you would think they would be perfect (like all the other courses around).
Great course for the price
I got a twilight rate at $30 on golfnow, which is a good deal IMO. There was nobody out there at that time so my round only took 3 hours, which is always nice.
This course is where the Kenton County Championships are played every year, & I think it's a good course for that. There's a decent of risk/reward available. This course also demands that you be straight off the tee. Due to the many hills & sloping fairways, hitting it left or right means there's a good chance your ball will wind up in the thick stuff, which is almost impossible to find from there. The course does not favor someone with a fade or a slice. This gets worse later in the summer months when things dry up.
The greens were in good shape, & they usually are here. A bit slow, but good nontheless.
A Sunday Stroll
Played on the weekend, the Willows, tee time 10 am. On time tee off, course crowded, inexperienced foursome in front of us slowed our play on front nine, they left after that and we moved right along. Greens and fairways good, rough fair, somewhat high as it should be. Tees need work, some were closed with no signs of reseeding going on. One tee had a water leak with standing water. Sand in all traps but loose only 1 inch down, below that hard pan and compacted, a rototiller would loosen up. Great price on golfnow $15 +tax for a weekend. Staff friendly, food good, beer cold. Staff in snackbar area need training and updated information on current channels for TV, this is not the first time they were clueless. I looked at channel guide and very outdated. Why have a TV if they don't know the channels.
Too slow!
Pace was very slow. It took us 5.5 hours to play 18 holes.
The course had terrible fairway conditions.
Not happy with the fairways and tee boxes. More than half of the tee boxes do not have grass or even ground to hit off of.
Spring.....cart path only
greens were sandy and bumpy. Windy and wet today and cart path only.
greens were very bumpy
Not a horrible course, not in my top 10 by no means greens were very bumpy.
Losing more of the fairways and greens the more I play it
The fairways and greens are getting worse the more the season goes along. However, I do believe they are going to put new fairways in like on Fox. That will make this course one of the best in the area if they bring the greens back with the new fairways.
