Fun and Fair
This was my first time playing The Willows but it won’t be my last. Course was in good condition for early in the season. Only problem was if your ball landed in the rough it wasn’t findable. 1/2 or 3/4 inch shorter would be great.
Food and beverage services were excellent.
Fun but slow
The Willows is a very solid, fun, challenging course that gets bogged down with nice, older gentlemen that cause the pace of play to be really bad.
Dave and the staff have got the course in great shape!
Willows
The course was in great shape considering the drought this year. It was not very busy for a week day.
Very pleasant, hilly course
Front nine was fairly flat, back nine a little more challenging. Yellow tees are very manageable for the average golfer. Staff was very friendly, food/drinks reasonably priced.
Pace of play
3 hours to get through 9 holes. No ranger to keep up with pace of play. It was a literal free for all. Let management know at the turn, they don’t care. 7 groups on the 10th hole. Tried to get a rain check and they said to call Golf Now. I have been unable to get a refund on the 9 holes I refused to play.
Green were ok, some were wet some were extremely dry. Hard to get a feel. No rangers, no water jugs, no bev cart. Hard to put this in the top 10 courses in Kentucky. Sad it used to be in better condition
Trees needed
Course is in good shape considering how dry and last month was. But new trees are desperately needed on hole 3 to help protect oncoming traffic on Richardson Rd. Right-handed slicers can easily put drives into the roadway.
Solid course
Course was in good condition and the staff was really friendly.
Rough Condition
The course is not in good shape. Disappointing to see it decline so much from the start of the season.
For better experience
Seems like everyone working near clubhouse and none on course. No cart concessions on course. Need water jugs on course on six tee and near storm shelter between 14 green and 15 tee at very least. Mow greens lower to eliminate some of the grain.
League Nights strategy
If you are looking to get in a twilight 18 when league play is running, try checking in :45 early and watching for a gap on the turn. Lots of very slow groups out there, but it can work to your advantage if they fall too far behind.
Thank you for the great rating, Samuel44. Hope to see you back on the course soon!
