Not Ready for Prime time!
This course is not ready for the average or better-than-average golfer. Tee boxes and most of the fairways are full of crabgrass. The grass that has been cut on the course has not been removed so it makes it even harder to find your ball. The course needs serious work and fast. If you going to play with your son or daughter it might be the right course other than that stay away!
Better options
Course was in rough condition, even for the end of summer. Fairways were long and mainly weeds. Greens were long and wet c with a lot of dead spots. Tee boxes were bare. Definitely would have composed a different course.
Improvement
Greens were cut so speed was good and rolling nice. Fairways were cut they just need a good fairway mower. Rough was obnoxiously deep in many areas. they need to get more equipment and staff to keep up with mowing. Finally bunkers are embarrassing. Fill them in and mound them and allow fescue to grow tall like at Eisenhower.
Fallen Apart
I’ve always been a fun of Walden because of the course layout, it’s a shot-makers course. It seems like maintaining the course is no longer a priority. Even the greens are in horrible shape. The course has fallen apart!
This is the first bad review I’ve given this course.
Rude cart staff/ bad condition
Cart staff, more specifically the older gentleman was very rude and useless. The tee boxes might as well be in the middle of the fairway due to the lack of grass. Bunkers felt like cement or they were all filled with water. Layout of the course is very cool but the conditions made it way less cool. I would never play this course again for 54$, course is 25-30$ quality. Need to work on maintenance heavily, would not recommend
no water was pprovided on the course until you got to hole 10. No cart girl with drinks either
