Golfer Reviews
Good bang for the buck!
Nice course, I play from their green tees (longest) which makes it around 6300 yards. Course is in good shape in general and getting better. Greens are still a little bumpy from being aerated but not really an issue. Looks like they are fixing up and replacing sand in traps.
Good course for the price
Overall course condition was good. A couple of tee boxes needed attention but nothing serious. Course plays pretty tight and challenging which requires some shot management. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Decent for the price but a bit chaotic
The course has some very interesting holes, and nice greens. It's pretty narrow, but not crushingly long so it's manageable. A few holes have townhouses that are just too close to the center of the fairway. #8 borders on the ridiculous. The back nine was a bit chaotic, mainly because some groups stop for lunch and some don't so there's some huge traffic jams. Also, because the homes are so close to the course, the course is their backyard so there's kids fishing, riding bikes, walking dogs everywhere. I'd have been a lot happier if this all took 3 and a half hours but we teed off at 130 pm, ran into a wall of people 6 holes later and finished at 630. The strength of the course is the par 3 and 5 holes which are all fun and exciting.
Possibly a new regular course
Really enjoyed playing this relatively short but challenging course. The elevation changes, blind shots, forced carries, and designated landing spots made for a tough round my first time out. get the yardage book if they have them in stock. It will be worth the money! You might be able to leave your driver in the bag for the front nine, but be prepared to hit some long irons and several lay ups. I you manage the course, you can score. Unfortunately, I didn't do that this time but plan to play again soon. I left some strokes out there I'd like to get back.
Nice course
A very nice course under new management. Several improvements have been made.
A Nice Short Course with Plenty of Challenges
This course is short, but it provides a number of challenges throughout. The greens are very large, but at the time they had been freshly aerated. I will play this course again. I know it's early in the season, so the green should be in great shape in a couple of weeks. The fairways and the rough were already immaculate.
Quirky layout
Course needs a lot of work. Many of the hazards you can't see from the hitting area. The most positive thing about the course is their sand traps are decent.
A lot of potential
Like some of the other reviews say, they are steadily making improvements, but in a few months this course will be magnificent. It's very challenging for beginners, most of your approach shots will be blind efforts unless you're very accurate and long. Even though the the course is not very long, the rolling hills hiding the greens can make it play long. Being able to shape shots will help. Course conditions are spotty and the sand traps are horrible, the back nine looks better than the front, but when this course get back to it's full potential it'll definitely be a regular favorite of mine. If you can go low here, you can go low anywhere.
Obviously putting in a lot of effort!
Made tee time through Golf-Now to play 18 holes, but when we got there, we were told that the back 9 was being aerated, so we would have to play the front 9 twice. Nobody mentioned that the front 9 had just been aerated, so it was pretty much a lost day. I would expect more of a discount during an aeration, but c'est la vie. We could see all kinds of improvements being made to the course (brand new white sand was heaped in some of the bunkers, and the clubhouse had many workers painting and scraping). May give it another try. The layout itself was very challenging!
First Experience
Walden is tight narrow fairways thats not for the faint of heart golfer whom hits the occasional slice/hook. On either sides you have houses, woods and water. Every hole challenges u to hit straight consistent shots. Staff waz great & friendly, golf carts well kept. The only complaint was the course conditions. They just completed aeration on all 18 holes so greens were bad plus it rained on us. Golf issued a complimentary 9 hole voucher for next visit.
Great course for all levels of play.
Only drawback was we we're aware that the greens had been aerified. Might have made a big factor in our decision to play. Other than that, we had a wonderful time, thank you.
First day of Aeration
When we arrived we were informed that they had decided at the last moment to aerate the front nine holes. This meant that we would have to play the back nine holes twice. They did reduce our greens fees and pace of play was very good as you can imagine and the back nine are quite enjoyable. Greens did seem to have some issues on some holes with either a turf disease or green grass having died.
AERATION YIKES!
There was no mention of aeration in their listing. Upon my arrival was was advised the front nine was closed but I could play the back nine twice. I received a discount of 7bucks. I didnt balk, but that was a crock. The back nine was in pretty good shape. I'm sure they will be aerating the back nine any day so avoid this course for the next few weeks or request a severe discount . You can play 18 for their price at many other courses on Golfnow...I will try it again in a month...
a good value
Walden is a well designed course with several interesting holes. Staff are helpful, but it always seems a bit disorganized there in terms of tee times, sending out singles to wait behind foursomes, etc. The course is in decent shape; the greens were good. In general, a nice place to play a reasonably priced round of golf.
Improved course
This course is 100% better than previous years. This course looks amazing!! The fairways and greens look great!!! If you have not played this course in a few years you need to go back and play!!
spring time - course is still getting in shape
All 18 greens were in very good shape, rolled true. Fairways are spotty, particularly those in the woods. The course has a couple of challenging holes, particular a couple of par - 3s. Most holes are modest in length
