Par 3 17th Photo submitted by Golfermom94 on 10/28/2013
Long but good
The course was backed up from the moment we loaded out bags. Even the course starter was confused. Sent off 10 people to line up on hole 1. The pace and the staff confusion was the worst. Overall the course was great if your a bit better off the tee. The fairways are pretty narrow and there are like 5 par three holes.
Good Variety
The holes are short with only a few exceptions (2, 16) but it is relatively tight. Straight with the tee shots and you can score well...if not then you will lose golf balls. Local knowledge is a must. The closing 3 holes are challenging, scenic and round defining. Not for every week, but worth a visit.
Good but the rangers were annoying
We played on a Saturday as a twosome - Ended up pairing up with the twosome in front of us at the 5th hole due to the pace of play. The rangers came to use 3 times telling us to speed up when the players in front of us were hitting 3 balls a person. They even told us to hit into them.... which concerned me with the safety of them being my drive is usually 300+ yards. I came really close to hitting someone... Once that happened I had to slow down. There is not restaurant there so if you're hungry you can get a hot dog or eat before. Overall you go there to golf. It is somewhat challenging; however it IS NOT WORTH $59/round OFF SEASON. You can play golf in season at Sawgrass country club @ 7 am for $30 with a cart. Challenging course-not worth the money and rangers.
Lots of Trouble
If you don't mind losing many balls in water and rough, having no ice and few water coolers, and surly staff, play way
Great value for Hot Deal
I have played this course over several years. It may be in the best condition I have ever seen it.
The fairways are the best I ever played ANYWHERE
Don't let the overall short yardage from the blues fool you. There were 2 par 5's were well over 500 yards, with one 442 yard par 4 and two 200 yard par 3's!!! The other shorter par 4's had smallish greens protected by several traps and other hazards. The tee boxes, fairways, greens were in fabulous shape. The rough was tough, but fair. I HIGHLY recommend this course, especially when you find a GREAT Hot Deal like I did on Golfnow.com!!!
Too slow
Not a bad course with some challenging holes. Front nine moved along well but came to a standstill on the back- no Marshall anywhere and players hitting multiple shots which forced us to skip 2 holes
Too many people
I have played this course numerous times this summer.
They are booking too many people at one time.
We shouldn't have a back up at that time of day.
Everything is great except over booking at mid day
unkindness
I visited 4th times there.
My freind late arrived for traffic.
We latey started.
We finished before yard.
When went to next 9 holes
Somebody didn't enter to next hole.
He was so unkindness.
Value
Great value for the money. Don't let the yardage fool you this course is more difficult than you would think. Loved #17.
Only if you Hit'em Straight
The fairways can be very narrow at times with either woods or homes on both sides. Greens ran a bit slow and did follow the contours. If your used to wide open fairways, this will be a challenge. It is fun and and could be a slow pace. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape.
All good but no clubhouse
Course was in good condition. Friendly staff. Very limited clubhouse functions. Not a place to take a client.
Short but demanding layout. Would play here again for the value.
A nice ride but you can't walk this course
Was paired up with a twosome and a sigle. Had a very pleasant round. It seemed like we waited on each hole but our pace of play was just about the pace listed on the scorecard. The course was in good shape and the greens were beautiful.
course is fair and fun
enjoyable course will definitely come back to play again.
Short course that will test all aspects of your game
The fairways could have been in better condition, they appear to have some sort of disease in some parts (patches of rooty grass that's not easy to hit from). Tee's were in decent condition, greens were excellent but speeds varied from green to green.
All said, it's a tough little course that will test your game. Played from the back, blue tees at 6000+ yards. The only thing about the course I'd change is the 100% uphill, par 5, 18th hole. It's a bad hole but was obviously designed within the parameters of a townhome community.
On another note, the course is home to the Howard County First Tee program, which teaches kids the game of golf. Will play there again.
Course Condition
The course condition just doesn't seem to improve. greens are getting maybe a bit better but fairways are still burned up.
I'm not too impressed and the green fee is a bit steep for what you get.
I would recommend this course for friends who live nearby but not for "daily" playing. there's better courses in the baltimore area too.
Nevet a dull moment on this course.
Great layout with interesting holes. Greens are perfect.
