Like hitting off a mat in the fairways!
Having played at some courses with bare spots in the fairways, or very inconsistent maintenance, this course was well maintained! The fairways were beautiful....not grass-like, almost turf-ish (easy to hit a fairway wood off of....and I am not a good golfer.)
The greens were also good (except the unfixed ball marks). A little challenging (almost no straight forward putts), but good.
The starter called it a target golf course, but not being a great golfer, I still found it OK -- not horribly hard! =) But maybe I was having a good day.
Fun but quirky layout
Fairway Hills has a mixture of challenging and less difficult holes. Familiarity is a benefit since there are some blind shots, and even finding the first tee is not self-evident (hint, it's through a tunnel, across the road). Hazards cross some fairways, so an otherwise straight shot might end up unplayable. Slow play may be a problem on some days. Some tee shots require a considerable bend, or less than a driver. The layout is fun, but quirky.
Course in good shape
Staff was exceptional and very welcoming. A bit expensive for a municipal course but it was in good shape
Great layout with challenging holes
I found the conditions to be good although the rough around the greens were clumpy due to plugs from recent aeration.Overall I enjoy the layout and the changes in elevation on numerous holes. I ill play this course again.
Great Value
We played this course on a Friday afternoon and the course was in great condition. This course is a little short but still challenging. This is a hidden gem in Howard County along with Hobbit's Glen. Fun layout and the last 3 holes will make or break your round.
fun course to play; nice mix/variety of holes
the course is in good shape. aeration three weeks earlier meant the greens were a little slow and some were slightly beat up, but overall putting was fine.
the variety of holes -- some challenging, some easy -- is good, as is the mix of par 4s, 5s, and 3s. pace of play was excellent: i was a single and larger groups readily let me play through. finished in just two and a half hours, even after joining up with a twosome on the back nine.
not for walkers, as there are very long distances between green and tee on several holes. a shame, as i prefer to walk.
no hitting of woods at the practice facility -- a minor minus.
i'll definitely play it again at the great price i had this time.
Decent Course for Good Price
Relatively shorter course but some challenging holes. Nice staff.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being awesome:
Tee Box: 7-8
Fairways: 8
Roughs: 7-8
Greens: 7-8
Overall - good course and good conditions.
Fun course. Tight. Interesting layout.
Very interesting layout here. Lots of forced carries and tight driving holes. Course is short but makes up in difficulty by requiring well placed shots. Played here on a hot deal, would not pay more than $35 to play here really. Staff here was great, driving range w mats but extremely downhill so hard to determine distances. Carts were newer and very nice, no GPS though.
This is a shotmaking course!
This is my home course, I play here at least once a week. I always enjoy my rounds. Each hole offers you an adequate challenge and overall the course requires you to make shots. You will use/ need every club in the bag at this course. I recommend to all my friends to come play there with me! Staff are great always offering helpful advice as to playing the course. Pace of play is usually pretty good. I really enjoy playing this course!
Great find for the weekend warrior..... a real find.
Great find between Baltimore and DC for the weekend warrior
The course is poorly marked. No fairway hazard distances!!!
Good course but the course is poorly marked. No fairway hazard distances!!! Please add them for a more pleasant experience.
maintance was great
club house is too small and dirty,
when i eat something , i can,t find space to sitting ,and
staff is too slow to processimg., not kindness.
this is my first time play this course,
i don.t want to come back play again.
Tight course and can be challenging at certain holes.
Bermuda grass were well groomed. greens were definitely hard to read on some holes. Most divots on the green were attended to. Would be a lot better if there were more water stations around the course.
this course is set for target golf
The course is not long and is built around a community and townhomes. Shots have a small margin of error. Target golf. No great changes in elevation.
The staff are so friendly and give you a thorough description of the course, tell you where water is on the course, etc.
This course is well maintained. There is a challenge on starting off and ending with a Par 5. I enjoyed the round. The rough is a little rough but it's better than Marlton & Cross Creek because each of them have a hole-in-repair that is miserable.
Unfortunately, the clubhouse only has Hot Dogs and Cold cut Sandwiches. Burgers and fries would be nice as well.
I will definitely return and recommend to others.
This course is very challenging for a novice golfer.
We really enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging and fun at the same time. My only wish is that, as a "first-timer" at this course, more directional signs would be helpful. There were times when we didn't know how to get to the next hole.
Tight course
This course winds through a community so you only feel like your alone on a golf course on a very few holes. The course set-up can be a challenge with tight fairways, blind shots and forced carries! It's not the longest course but def. forces you to strike the ball well and set yourself up for your second shot. It's def. well maintained the greens roll true and the Bermuda fairways sit the ball up nice. This course will def. test the weekend warrior so bring extra balls. I will return!
Nice Fairways
Comparatively, the course is par with a number of courses in the area that play well and are in good to excellent condition. But the rates are more expensive unless you use GolfNow, then it's a good bargain. The fairways are superb - like striking off a range mat -- Bermuda grass. Greens are in good to excellent condition. Don't expect much in the pro shop, it's small and has little to no supplies. Likewise their is no bar or grill. But, if you're only interested in playing golf, it's a great course to visit.
This course is great shape and it is worth to play.
The course is pretty tight when u play in back tee. I will play again with good rate.
