Good course to play, if you can get a deal.
The layout at Timbers is great. And it's usually in good to great condition. However, the patchy rough (in places) and aerated greens were a bit of a surprise this trip. I recommend this course to anyone with a caveat. Make sure you get a deal/discount somehow. This is the most expensive public course in the area and it shouldn't be. $60+ is steep for a course of this level. The nearest public course is Fairway Hills and is $15-25 cheaper, while bringing a comparable experience. $60+ is for courses like Waverly Woods and courses of that level. This course is not that level.
Slow
Pace of play is horrendous. Tee time was at 2:12pm, started on time and finished at 7:20pm. 5 hours and change for 18 holes.
Go elsewhere- can find a better course with better staff and price
Greens were covered in aerated sand so putting was terrible. For price, expect much better greens. Staff could be better too- didn’t seem friendly or happy to be there. For cost of this course, you can find better value elsewhere.
Poor Management
I’ve had several friends tell me they’ve had this experience at this course. Carts dying, horrible pace of play (5+ hour rounds) and charging $70 per round. 2/3 of those are acceptable, not all 3. I played this course once before and year and a half ago and the carts died then too. That’s why I’m leaving this review. Friendly people, but just terrible efficiency for the price you pay. It’s a shame you really expect better out of such a beautiful course.
Waited on every hole for party of SEVEN ahead of us
We teed off at 11:30 and after 4-1/2 holes and only 16 holes, we had to leave for other obligations. As we left, we passed a group of SEVEN that was several groups ahead of us. This course has a reputation for slow pace and this may be why. Management should never allow this to happen. Will not come back.
Timbers always a fun day and in good shape
Less muddy than a lot of courses lately (but still enough that was Cart path only). Fairways and greens in nice shape but a lot of people not repairing their own divots sadly. Pace excellent despite tee sheet being full.
Had problems with two carts and they very promptly brought new ones.
