Top Ten Reasons to Play Clustered Spires GC
10. To learn from the informative and helpful Starter that Clustered Spires refers to the group of churches close together in downtown Frederick.
9. The course is in great shape.
8. The greens are well manicured and hard as heck.
7. The course plays well in the wind.
6. Not a ton of water on the course, easily avoided.
5. Ample parking.
4. Golf range and putting / chipping greens are great.
3. The staff in the clubhouse are lovely.
2. Easier to get a tee time than the courses closer to DC.

The tee boxes were a little beat up, but it’s also not uncommon this time of year. Great course for the price though.
Course was very backed up due to cart path only. Pace of play was extremely slow. T-Times should be spread out when cart path only. We were unable to finish our round.
Best greens around
Well maintained course. Staff friendly and helpful. Greens are huge and well maintained, making for a challenging putting experience. My first time there, but worth the drive from Columbia. We’ll be back.

Not In The Usual Great Condition
I play Clustered Spires typically 3-4 times a year...it's over an hour drive for me. It always seems to be in good condition, but this trip was different. The tee boxes were in terrible shape...long grass (if there was grass), definitely chewed up, and some boxes were just dirt and sand. Unfortunately, as well, some of the fairways had dirt spots in the fairway. The course just seemed less manicured than normal. Additionally, it took us almost 5 hours to play...we waited on every hole, every shot. All of this was unnecessary if they had just marshaled. There was at least one hole open two groups in front of us, and they should have been asked to pick up pace and close the gap. Instead, those of us behind had to grin and bear it...and wait! I really like this course, but driving over an hour to pay $78 for almost 5 hours on a less-than-pristine conditioned course doesn't sit well. I'll give Clustered Spires another try in 2025.
Course is easy to play
Not a lot of opportunities to lose a ball. I tend to lose a lot of balls
