Nice Course
Course conditions were excellent, greens were true and smooth
Early fall round
Pleasantly surprised today, very nice round. For a Friday morning, the course was not too busy, so pace of play was fine. Because of COVID, the clubhouse is closed and they have outside portable restrooms. But they were clean. Staff was very friendly. They have been aerating, and though some spotty areas in fairways, the greens rolled very nicely and have filled in. Definitely will be going back.
Undisclosed
Booked a tee time and came to the course only to discover they were aerating the whole front 9. I had already driven the 45 min to get to the course so decided to take them up on the offer to play the back 9 twice. Annoyed I wasn't told when booking tee time and when I got there wasn't even offered a different rate because of the aeration.
Disappointed
The clubhouse is completely closed. The porta-potties were disgusting outside the clubhouse were disgusting and dirty.
The fairways and most of the tee boxes were in bad shape.
Despite covid they didn't have any sponge at the bottom of the cup so that you didn't have to take the ball out.
Not enjoyable due to the foursome pressing behind us.
As beginner golfers, being in a rush and inexperienced was a great disadvantage.
We were not aware we would be paired with 2 other golfers, slowing our start and progress through the course. We did not complete the 18 hole round, and left the course after 12.
Course Beat Up Due to All the Play
Played in June and the conditions were perfect. Now not so much due to all the play. Greens had been aerated which is not surprising given it's September but the fairways are gone - mostly dirt with crabgrass creaping in. I would not play till the end of September. I'm sure the course will be fully recovered by next spring.
Front Nine Aerated & Back Nine Closed
Made a tee time through GolfNow and showed up to a Front Nine that was Aerated & a Back Nine that was entirely Closed. I received 0 warnings of either at booking or when I showed up to the course from the Pro Shop attendant and the 2! starters they had working. Paid close to full price via a Hot Deal as well. When I discussed with the GM afterward, he basically told me to deal with it. He said the punched greens were rolled and that I should not have anything to complain about. They were like putting on sandy plinko boards. They had 10 minute apart tee times with half the course closed during a pandemic. Again, there was zero warning about this, every golfer there was caught off guard. The rest of the course was in pretty bad as well; burned out fairways and tee boxes. Do yourself a favor and book a tee time some else.
1st time Playing
The greens have just been terrified but they did a pretty good job with that. The two boxes were in good shape and most fairways were in nice shape. A lot of holes however had sparse grass in the fairway. Need to improve the fairway conditions
Good time will go back
Not our first trip here will go back, enjoyed, starter/ ranger could be better but no real complaints there, they had aerated the greens (early September) decreased overall perception, areas could use more mowing. Overall good value for the money. Will go back.
Front Nine closed
Would of been nice to if known ahead of time that the front nine was closed. I prepaid and could t do anything about it. Course is nice - play was extremely slow and frustrating.
Great staff!!
Great course and even better staff that really take seriously the charge to provide a great experience to those that choose to play here. I highly recommend checking this course out.
A Couple of Surprises...
First trip to Clustered Spires this year, although I generally make the hour drive several times a year. I was aware it was two carts per foursome--you could have a cart with a plastic divider or not (your choice); however, I was with family, so not a big deal for me. What did surprise me was that the clubhouse is completely closed...the Pro Shop and Snack Bar had window openings to the outside, and no access to clubhouse restrooms. They had porta potties set up with hand washing stations. The porta potties were clean, which was a good thing; but all the restrooms on the course were taped off...I guess they don't want to clean them. You do have to sign a waiver absolving the course of any liability. Good luck with that one in court...you can't sign away your health obligations. In any event, the course was in good shape...there was some thinning in some of the fairways, and the tee boxes were long. The greens were in excellent condition and a little on the fast side, but a nice change from playing on aerated greens. The rough was long, thick, and brutal, so stay in the fairways. It was cart path only when we started, but on the turn we were able to drive 90 degrees. Pace of play was not bad, although lots of errant shots which came across buffer zones (like #11 onto #10). There was a huge backup on the last par 3, with four groups! Don't know what happened there. Nice course layout, good conditions, but it's bare bones service levels right now.
Nice course
Great Day with a childhood friend. Great staff, friendly golfers and a beautiful day.
Holes were blocked
I don't like putting to a styrofoam plug. Try using a small plug but let the ball fall in the hole
