Clustered Spires Golf Course

Great course in close proximity to downtown Frederick. Their regular prices are too expensive, but there are occasional deals on GolfNow that can get you decent prices.

I am a novice just learning the game. I specifically requested to play alone so that my slow pace of play does not hold up others. I was told that would not be a problem. When I arrived I was told I had to play in a foursome. When I told them of my request I was told it was not possible due to the volume of players who had reservations. Well I agreed but only after warning the other 3 in the group of my lack of skills. By the second hole I could see the level of frustration on my fellow golfers. I told them to play ahead as I noticed there was no one playing behind us. As I played on I noticed at least 4 other golfers playing alone and still no one playing behind me. I was mad as this was not the first I was forced to play in a group after requesting to play alone. At the end of the round I requested to speak with the manager and was told to wait. After 20 minutes of waiting I asked again to speak to the manager and was told that he had left for the day. Talk about mad! I then explained the situation to the guy taking care of the carts. He said the club tends to play favorites with frequent players and members but never the less my request should have been honored. I will give this course one more shot only because it is close to my house. If I am treated this way again they will never see me again and I will make sure all of my friends on social media are aware of the poor customer service provided on this course.

Course was in very good condition despite the rain played very nicely.

Probably one of the nicest courses in the area and a steal at the price point. Open fairways, with large greens that make it seem, from a distance, that they should be easy. The large greens have rolls that can challenge you but not to the point of frustration for beginner golfers.

With a 10:36am Monday tee time, I expected light traffic on the course. One foursome ahead of us that we never saw against after the second hole, and no one behind us. It was like we had the course to ourselves. Beautiful fairway and greens conditions, and a wonderful day at Clustered Spires.

First time here. Excellent condition. Nothing I didn’t like.

This was a fairly easy course with few serious bunkers. The weather started out quite foggy but the sun came out and burned it off. It was a beautiful day!

And finally got a friend to play it and as I do he loved it and says he’ll also be back

Great pace of play; beauty fall day, course in nice shape, even after heavy overnight rains.

The course was closed and I hate a tee time set for over a week and no one called or emailed to tell me. I even called over the weekend to see if they'd still be open and they still said yes. I will never waste my money here again.

Course conditions were excellent, greens were true and smooth

Pleasantly surprised today, very nice round. For a Friday morning, the course was not too busy, so pace of play was fine. Because of COVID, the clubhouse is closed and they have outside portable restrooms. But they were clean. Staff was very friendly. They have been aerating, and though some spotty areas in fairways, the greens rolled very nicely and have filled in. Definitely will be going back.

Booked a tee time and came to the course only to discover they were aerating the whole front 9. I had already driven the 45 min to get to the course so decided to take them up on the offer to play the back 9 twice. Annoyed I wasn't told when booking tee time and when I got there wasn't even offered a different rate because of the aeration.

The clubhouse is completely closed. The porta-potties were disgusting outside the clubhouse were disgusting and dirty.

The fairways and most of the tee boxes were in bad shape.

Despite covid they didn't have any sponge at the bottom of the cup so that you didn't have to take the ball out.

Not enjoyable due to the foursome pressing behind us.

As beginner golfers, being in a rush and inexperienced was a great disadvantage.

We were not aware we would be paired with 2 other golfers, slowing our start and progress through the course. We did not complete the 18 hole round, and left the course after 12.
