Beginner friendly course
The nice price point and open fairways makes this a perfect course for an up and coming golfer like me.
Pace of play
It's a very good course and in condition at a good price but pace of play is very slow. Since the fee is at a lower standard than other courses, lots to players to deal with at all levels. My fastest round in this course was at 4 hrs and 50 minutes with no Marshall to go around the course.
Really Loving this Course
This is the second time this summer I played this course, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Enough challenges without being absurd, but still great for a duffer like me.
Only complaint, several of the bunkers were hard. The Sand on #8 was like hitting off clay.
Very Nice Course!
2 things I’d change if I ran this course:
1) I’d spray for bugs more often. They’re horrible if there’s little to no wind blowing.
2) I’d space tee times out to 12 min per group. Vice the 10 min spacing currently used.
Other than that, I love this course!
A nice day of golf!
Pace of play was on target. Greens are in good shape. Rough is challenging and met a couple of cool dudes!
Great course!
The only thing holding this course back is the pace of play. I think 10 min between groups is too short, but I understand that it likely helps with revenue. Almost every time I play, we’re 10-30 min behind schedule. And it’s not due to frost or weather. I love this course and will continue to play it regardless!
SLOW
Left after 11 holes; pace of play too slow; Course is in great condition; great starter; they need a ranger out there for a holiday; kitchen/snack bar was not prepared for Memorial Day; Out of food and drinks; very limited selection.
If you go strictly for the course, then I would recommend
Pace of play and poor kitchen preparation leads to a NO on the recommendation
Very nice course but slow!!!
The course layout is fair with thick rough as a penalty for not hitting fair ways. The greens were very nice and rolled well. The tee boxes were in excellent condition level and several to choose from. The traps were large and positioned well however in poor condition as the was hardy any sand in them and hard as a rock if you had to hit out of them. The course overall would be very nice if the traps were taken care of with sand in them . It’s sucks that you pay a fair price and they can’t even take care of the traps. Pace of play was very slow with many seniors as well as walkers on the course. We had three groups on the par three tee on the back nine as well as a long wait for every par five as players were waiting to hit into the greens more than 250 away. TV golfers I suppose. No rangers at all. I’ll give it another chance if they take care of the sand trap issues.
Need a marshall to move people along
At the end of the first 9 holes we drive straight to the 10th and there is a 4-some suddenly ahead of us...first 9 in 1:50, second 9 holes in 2:30...a marshall asking them to let us play through would have been nice, the twosome behind us joined us and we still had to wait 10 minutes in some holes.
Clustered Spires
The corse was great, assuming the city gives the maintenance staff nothing to work with.
A few added zeroes on the maintenance budget it could be an excellent golf facility.
Hats off to the maintenance crew.
abysmal golf experience
teed off 20 minutes after my tee time. group ahead of me had drunk idiots falling over on greens and I finished 9 after 3 hours. pace of play is a sickening joke. at one point, I was waiting 20 minutes on the tee box in the middle of my round
only plus side is the pro shop attempted to make it right with a rain check. I'm debating using it, however, knowing it'll be another frustrating 3 hours of my life.
Good Course
This is a good municipal course, owned by the city of Frederick. The course is nice, not great. No real memorable holes. Unfortunately, the sand is hard packed junk. It needs to be replaced. Overall, it is a nice experience.
