Black Rock Golf Course may be one of western Maryland's newest courses but it's located near some of the country's most historic sites. Antietam Battlefield and Harper's Ferry are just a few minutes away from this scenic course. The opening holes of the layout are tucked into the Shenandoah Valley while the back nine climbs uphill, offering views that stretch across the Appalachian Mountains. The golf course has plenty of holes that will please long hitters, but mature trees and thick rough frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy. Traps protect the front of most of the greens and you'll come across dramatic undulations on some. The par-4 13th is arguably Black Rock's toughest hole. This sharp dogleg right has a massive tree to the right as well as a pond right in front of the green.

Nice course, nice layout
Nice course, nice layout
Only negative for the greens. They were wet and I do not believe that they modem this morning. They were extremely slow. This may be due to the time of year as I’m not an expert. Overall, I would happily play this course again as I enjoyed the layout and the fairways and Rose were in very good condition
Great course!
Nice greens and fairways! Tee boxes could be better but not to bad. Pace was great! Exactly four hr round. No groups in front of us or behind us. Every hole was unique and challenging so it was fun. Nice public course. This was my 2nd time playing here. Price was good too.
Great Course
The course was in great shape and the green were awesome! Bunkers suck so avoid at any cost as no sand in them. Overall excellent
Stoopid slow due to poor mgmnt
Played labor day 1pm. These idiots jammed 3 groups together ahead of us that teed off less than 10mins apart;!? Took 4 hours to play 12 holes before I called it a day. Horrible course management and cramming as many as possible onto a course like this creates an experience that makes me never want to return. unacceptable
One of my favorites in the area
One of my favorites close to home. Great Course! Will be back again and bring more golfers.
They have some issues.
This is generally an ok course. Lots of maintenance is needed this time of year. COVID must be screwing with their staffing. No starter which resulted in 2 foursomes with tee times 20 minutes behind us.. jumped in front of us! So the guy at the desk let’s us start on the other 9. Then the Ranger tracks us down to harass us for starting at the other 9... The Rangers can be a little unbearable.
Nice course
This is a nice course, in good condition. Very nice layout, doglegs, ups and downs, plenty of bunkers and some water. Greens are in good condition, a bit small and slow. Several holes you probably shouldn't hit driver. I will play here again.
Nice layout but,
The course has a nice mix of medium, short, and longer par 4's from the back tees. I also enjoyed the varied par 3s. Some are downhill, some uphill, and are of varied lengths.
The par 5's are especially entertaining as they allow longer hitters to reach in two, evev from the back tees.
The primary reason I did not give a higher review was the nature of the fairways. The were cut very high, and often my ball found a fairway lie that was more like landing in a light rough.
Pleasantly Surprised
Fairways greens and tees in good shape. Challenging holes that make you think a shot ahead. Good shots are rewarded but some holes are narrow and can be punishing if you miss your mark. Plenty of shade on the course with all the trees, just wish there was a ranger to help keep the pace of play up. We had to go around a group that was playing brutally slow, you know the type , walk 50 yards to your ball without a club than walk back. Those types. All in all a very fun course. I would have to say one of my favorites. It didn't hurt I shot even par on the first go around here either. Lol
