Black Rock Golf Course may be one of western Maryland's newest courses but it's located near some of the country's most historic sites. Antietam Battlefield and Harper's Ferry are just a few minutes away from this scenic course. The opening holes of the layout are tucked into the Shenandoah Valley while the back nine climbs uphill, offering views that stretch across the Appalachian Mountains. The golf course has plenty of holes that will please long hitters, but mature trees and thick rough frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy. Traps protect the front of most of the greens and you'll come across dramatic undulations on some. The par-4 13th is arguably Black Rock's toughest hole. This sharp dogleg right has a massive tree to the right as well as a pond right in front of the green.

Beautiful course.

This course is very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We had a slow foursome in front of us so a ranger would have been nice but I highly recommend this course. Good value for the hot deal price I paid.

Very nice but there are much better values around.

Beautiful course but when they charge $47 in early April...there are much better courses to be played for a better price. Not as many deals to be found here.

Course is always in great shape...except for many of the sandtraps. Course is very easy to score low.

I'll keep playing here since it is close to home.

A course I will definitely play again

This course was referred to me by a friend. Unfortunately he couldn't play with us that day but I'm glad he made the recommendation. The greens were great, fairways very well maintained, and the rough weren't too "rough". It was nice to play without feeling pressured and the 18th hole crossing the water to make the green was a great finish. The only down fall to the whole outting was that we arrived early hoping to hit the range but it was closed for mowing. All in all it was a great course I'll definitely play again.

Home course

This is my home course and I love this place. Great layout. Sand bunkers are better now. The D boys are great people. Darrell, Donny and Dave. The green on 13 will have you thinking is this what the pro’s have to putt on every week. Have fun. I’m there a lot. Playing there tomorrow!

GOOD COURSE REASONABLY PRICED

COURSE WAS IN THE BEST SHAPE THAT I HAVE PLAYED IT IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. EXTRA WORK WAS ALSO DONE OFF THE FAIRWAYS TO MAKE IT NICER. FAIRWAYS WERE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. I BELIEVE THEY WERE GETTING READY TO AERIFY. WE HAD A SLOW FOURSOME IN FRONT OF US BUT NORMALLY IT WOULD BE A 4 HOUR ROUND

Nice fall day

Course must see a great deal of play. Greens were not ideal. Fairways were nice, no issues with the tee boxes. Hole 10 was under construction. Back 9 was more challenging. Great value for the hott deal price. Course had character, not a plain back and fourth layout, pleanty of doglegs and lay up holes. Pace was slow as there was a foursome in front of 2 of us that never once gave a thought to letting us play through. Would certainly play again, perhaps in the spring.

End of Season - Showing first signs of wear!

We play Blackrock 3 times per month, and for a municipal course, I am always impressed at the condition of the course. Their course managers always find a way, with limited resources, to make for a good experience, without forcing older golfers to struggle with "Cart Path Only". This entire summer, I only remember twice when a few holes were OFF limits to golf carts.

This week (Sept 11), for the first time since April, the course is getting a bit tired. Lots of "grounds under repair", lots of putts missed cause of bouncing on the way to the hole. Feels like just too many rounds being played.

Still, I am likely to be there next Week!

NOTE: Golfnow Fees, coupled with Hot Deals, are misleading at this course. If you are 55+, any available Tee Time is $31 if you call the pro shop. Plus you don't have to pre-pay, so no worries about a last minute change of plans.

The Rock

I've played back to back rounds here the past two days. Great conditions and pace of play was okay. Could have been faster but normal for a busy course. Definitely a must play if your in the area.

A Great Course -- Tough But Fair

Rarely do you shoot a really high score on a course new to you and want to go back and give it another try. Black Rock is one of those courses!

It has everything: length, great bunkers with good sand, water, scenery, undulating greens, tree-lined fairways, blind shots, and rough just high enough to challenge you.

It also has a slow pace of play, even though the course was not particularly crowded.

Everything considered, it's a great value at the Golf Now bargain rate.

Worth the trip

Black Rock is worth the 40 minute drive to Hagerstow. I make it an, at least once a trip to play. Fun course, everything is right in front of you. Shot makers golf course, but you don't have to be long. Will be back next year for sure.

Very nice course; good value through GolfNow

We played $35 for a round at BlackRock Golf course in Hagerstown, MD. This was a good value. I saw some $50-60 prices at different times, but would consider them high for the course. I think a $30-40 price for a round on BlackRock to be a value.

Fairway

It's hard to tell if your in the fairway or rough. The fairway needs to be cut shorter as well as some of the tee boxes! Great course!
