Getting better….
I’ve played here for many years and as others mentioned it’s taken a turn for the worse. I played two months ago and arrived this morning with low expectations but wanted to get out and play. Played the front nine and the greens are vastly improved. Could they be better? Yes but only a few bad areas noted. Course was mowed and in reasonable shape. Was it worth $30 for nine walking? $20 would be better yet it’s nice to see the corse improving and I’ll do another morning 9 soon!!
How can you give conditions more than a 1?
I have played this course for years and it has been up and down. well 1st time playing this year and will not go back. The sand traps are full of rocks and look like they have not been raked yet this season and that could be because there are NO RAKES on any hole. The biggest complaint is the putting greens. I thought the practice green by the starters box was bad, should have realized all the greens were like that. It is like playing bumper pool with all the lumps and missing grass. Cannot blame this on divots. the greens were aerated at some point recently, but they need to be repaired. it is embarrassing putting the ball and hitting a nob on the green and ball goes 90 degrees to the side or stops. The fact that their greens fees are as much as other 'full size' courses in the area is ridiculous.
You get what you pay for
This course does not have golf grass… it’s just clovers. The greens are absolutely terrible. But the staff was very friendly. You get what you pay for.
Course Improving little by little
This course had real MAJOR issues a year ago. The greens were black, bare and really bumpy. Fast forward 14 months since I last played here ( Only played today because I had 2 hours to kill and it was either this or stay home & watch TV) , the greens are a lot better now, most of the traps have been cleared of overgrown weeds and the fairways and rough are actually in great shape. The ball still doesn't roll well on the greens but they are making progress and not sure I'd pay more that $30 currently to play so long has I can get 18 holes in at under the 2 hour mark, until things improve. Kudos to the owner/ maintenance crew of their effort to bring this course back from the dead. I'll likely come back soon to get another firsthand look on how things have improved.
You get what you pay for
I went here knowing about the bad reviews but I didn’t think of it like that. The people there are super friendly but the course needs some help, the greens are absolutely trash and the grass is not golf grass… it’s like clovers… I know you get what you pay for but I just wish it was a little better
Greens Are Still Rough
They’re clearly working on the problem, but the greens are in bad shape after last year’s apparent neglect by a former greens keeper. They’re top dressed but I don’t know if they’ve been aerated this year. If you want to play a muni course with a lot of personality and challenge, you won’t find a better one for the money. If you’re looking for greens that roll true or with any speed whatsoever, this one isn’t there yet.
Getting better
I’ve been playing here a long time. The course has had its ups and downs, but the staff is always striving to give the best experience possible.
Fun layout, but greens in TERRIBLE shape
Nice mix of par3s and 4s, but the greens were unplayable on 16 of 18 holes. Terrible conditions for the greens and not well maintained at all.
Could be good
The layout of the back 9 was great. The conditions of the greens are terrible.
Yikes
This course has gone through multiple ownerships but somehow they still can’t get it right. Putting on the greens is about the equivalent to putting through a pit of gravel, the only good practice you can get here is maybe aiming your irons, but at that point just go to the range. If reviews get read I hope this goes to the owner. Take the time and patience to improve the greens, and people will want to play here more often. Until then, count me out.
