Pacing was everything
The course played well. At first, I was worried about the cart availability, but this was well paced that carts were available about 20min before my time - well done for the staff!
The only real challenge was there was no one to get the pace of play moving. Without going into the story, we were at 3.5 hours after finishing hole 10 because of the group directly ahead of us. We eventually skipped the first Par 3 to finish up and found at least 3 empty holes in front of us.
Drains well
Played on a Thursday after several rainy days and the course was very playable. It was cart path only but the course is one off the best draining courses in the area.

New course in the area I got to try
Liked the course fun layout good time me and my dad played and played well if u are above a 15 i suggest the gold or black tees played from the whites but it made it easy on a lot of holes. But I would say I would love to play here again

Sunday Golf
Grabbed this as a hot deal. Greens were rolling nice. Played in just over 4 hours but was odd as we flowed great holes 1-11 then hit wall the rest of the way, but sill not bad pace overall. They do have some temp tee's set up on a few holes where they re-soddded some tee boxs. Pretty forgiving layout if you've never played it before. Very happy to grab it on a deal, would I pay $100+ to play primetime Sat/Sun morning, maybe not.

Holy mackerel!! We are a bargain at the rack rate of $91!!! Get them while their hot! Just took the ropes down on 11, so no more walls! Try our crab cakes and burgers next time so that we can get that fifth star! GM Dave
My Round
I have played here before and had much better experiences. This trip however started with a delay and we started roughly 10 minutes past our scheduled start time. The starter seemed overwhelmed and it was a little chaotic. The round was slow and usually there are marshalls on the course but there were none this round until hole 17. We waited roughly 10 minutes every hole to tee off due to the group in front being slow and never seen anyone address it. then on 17 the marshall was on the fairway whistling at us to hit like we were the problem. The greens were not in good shape but the fairways seemed good for the most part. We were told the grill opened at 11 but when we called to order food at 11 on the 8th hole we were told the grill is not open yet and that we could only get hot dogs. Never seen a cart girl until hole 16. Again I normally have a good experience with this course but this day everything seemed to be off.
So sorry about those mishaps here at Challedon! Please give us another chance!? It sounds like there was a beverage cart and she may have gotten a late start and the marshal got to you late as well. We do our best to make sure that there's a bev cart, marshal and starter at all times to make your experience great. 99% of the time the Grille is cranking at 11:00 am and going until 8 pm. Hopefully you were able to stay after your round and had a crab cake or a burger. We hope to see you again soon. The greens, fairways and tees (newly opened!) are in excellent shape. GM Dave
They Want To Be Equal To Other Area Courses... But They Are Not
This track is hyped up in price but lacks in a lot of areas! If you can find this on a weekday hot deal, it's worth it. But a weekend or holiday rate, absolutely NOT! Lots of areas under repair, lots of areas in need of being under repair. The course conditions left a lot to be desired, starting on the first hole.
The layout has a LOT of OB and the neighbors aren't very golf course friendly either.
Lots of blind shots too with no aiming references, no yardage books available, no on-cart GPS. For $80+ I feel like that should be a thing that's available or included.
The bunkers were very inconsistent, some had sand, some didn't. Some of the bunkers were complete trash.
I didn't hate this course, I didn't play bad, I just felt cheated. I could have played Maryland National for like $10 more.
The staff seemed great but this course isn't worth more than $50 a round!
Wow. So glad that the tens of thousands of golfers that regularly play here don't feel the way that you feel. We get so many 10 out of 10's on our surveys every day and so many compliments to our Pro Shop and staff about how much they love our course. There is no bunker on the course that is complete trash. We have busted our butts on the bunkers this year. You must have missed the directional poles on #1 and #6. Please enjoy Maryland National at $137. I can guarantee you that no golf course can touch the quality of our crab cakes and burgers at the Grille. Given your comments, I've got to thank you for three stars! Glad that you enjoyed our staff! Enjoyable Day
We enjoyed a beautiful day playing golf at Challadon. The people are friendly and the course in good shape. Our only complaint was with the tee boxes on the back nine. Some holes you had to tee off from a mat.
NO MORE MATS!!!! The tees are open for business!!! Nothing to complain about!!! So glad that you enjoyed a beautiful day at Challedon! Come on back and try the crab cakes and burgers at the Grille! Ok, but terrible conditions
The staff were great but the value for the price just wasn't there. The conditions on the course were terrible. Tons of dead spots on the fairways, the grass on the tees was dreadful, and the greens were all over the place. It cost me over $100 for 2 twilight rounds and it felt like I seriously overpaid.
I can only hope they are working on this to make it better because I haven't played a course in that bad of shape in years.
Ok, this is a strange one. I am on this course every day and talk to dozens of people a week about the condition of the course. We get so many accolades about the condition of the course every day. "The greens were all over the place". What does that mean? They are friggin perfect. 13 brand new tee complexes. I wish that I could put pictures of the fairways in this review, but they are unbelievably healthy and tight. A couple areas on a couple fairways got dinged up this summer due to the ridiculous heat and flooding, but are healing up really well with this great fall weather. And $50 for a round of golf in the DC metropolitan area? Overpaid? Do you normally play in Arkansas?
