Decent Affordable Course
Good course. Fairways are in great condition. Greens are good. Layout of the course isn’t the greatest, but good for the price. Lot of par 3’s and no par 5’s. Par 62.
Terrible rate of play
This is basically a par 3 course with some par 4’s. The course is very pretty, good fairway/green conditions. My biggest issue was the rate of play. This was due to them cutting the greens on a Saturday between 11-2. Made no sense. Would not play again.
Sexist course marshal
Sexist course marshal singled out my wife for pace of play after she shot two para in a row and we had to wait five minutes for the group in front of us to tee off and the group of five in front of them to clear the green. Called her the weakest link to her face.
This was a great round and course in solid shape. I played with a 3-some during a day when it was drizzling throughout the day so the place of play was solid.
If this course can maintain a solid speed of play I will play it 4-5 times this Summer.
Great Value for Beginners and Experienced golfers alike
This may not be the fanciest course in the area, but the staff is friendly, the range is good, pace of play isn't too bad, and it offers challenges for the beginning golfer as well as those more experienced. For what it's worth, the price simply can't be beat, and although the course may not be the most well groomed, it certainly plays well. I play this course almost weekly and would recommend this place to anyone. My friends and I all thoroughly enjoy playing here.
I have played this course several times over the years and the course was in pretty good shape. I played in a threesome and we got through 12 holes in about an 1hr 45min.
My issue is that it took 1hr 45min to finish the next six holes. We waited 3-5min per individual shot and that's too much.
If the pace of play issue can be solved then I would play here more regularly.
Waste of time
I booked a tee time through golf now for myself and 2 boys (7. & 10). I brought my 4 year old along to ride with me. We get to the course an hour early and I go to pay. A gentlemanin in the clubhouse tells me that for future reference, kids are supposedto be 6 to be in the course. I ask if we are okay and he agreed. I paid and we go practice. I pull up to the starter an hour later for our tee time and am told that I need to go get a refund as they weren't going to allow my 4 year old on the course. I get that Willow Springs has rules but 1. It should be posted on the golfnow site and 2. Don't say it's ok, let me pay and practice and then turn me away at the 1st tee. There were 3 groups on the first hole. I assume they overbooked their golf course and we were an easy out to free up 15 minutes. Disappointed is an understatement. Definitely won't be back.
Fun place to play
Willow Springs is fun! A well taken care of Executive Course.
Good course for the price
The greens are in decent shape but they are so slow you cannot possibly hit the ball hard enough. Makes putting very difficult. The actual course has a great layout. Some of the fairways are the same cut of grass as the rough so this is definitely a good course to bring out your irons and work on them. We were the first group out for the day and we finished in about 3 hours. Amazing pace of play.
SLOW PLAYERS NOT SLOW PLAY
4 1/2 hours for an executive par 3 is ridiculous
Got behind 4 walkers who never offered me as a single to play through
Walking is normal for short courses and cheap players,
But the walking dead need to try bowling or checkers.
Marshals rode by several times, but never even stopped.
Rough and Greens
The rough has not been mowed in a week or so. The greens are half dead and not mown. Bring a Crockett Mallet. Extremely slow and horrible condition. I don't think the tee boxes have been mowed in several days either. I realize its spring butbthevgreens are 1/2 dead.
