early spring
course is rough greens very bumpy it will be much better in a few weeks
Doesn't Get Much Better than This!
I had the pleasure to play some December golf at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course recently. The course was in mint condition. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all superb! You can tell they really take care of this course. Didn't notice many ball marks on the greens. They are closing for the season soon so we were glad we got this round in. This is a grip it and rip it course for the most part. Generous tree-lined fairways on the first nine and wide open links golf on the back nine. Never experienced that kind of set up before so it was FANTASTIC!!! The par fives are reachable in two for the most part, and there are also a few driveable par 4's and dog-legs to keep it interesting. Lots of fairway bunkers as well. The guy in the pro shop couldn't have been more friendly. Not many people out so we finished up in 3.5 hours. We will definitely be back next season!
A bargain
This is a fun course that is always in great condition and does not cost s fortune to play.
Double booking tee times
Great layout, very nice conditions, but I'm always hesitant to play here because of slow play. They double book tee times on purpose. It's unfortunate , because it is an enjoyable course.
Great mix of fun and challenging holes, lots of different looks.
I love playing Acushnet River Valley. We had a wet summer but handled the water well. Always well groomed. Up hill, down hill, dog legs, strategic traps and some water. Challenging pin placements on a few of the easier holes. Ninth hole challenges everyone. Friendly staff, book online, great value.
What’s not to love!!
Nice course and a great value.
Nice course and a great value. First time playing Acushnet and I would go back again. Course is a very nice layout and in great shape.
Great day!! Course great
The day was great met some nice regulars.
The course style changes from. Park land to links from 12-17 and thats kinda different but but well done.
The greens are great the bunkers have fresh rock free sand. The fairways are plush and the rough not very penal.
All in all this in a nice walk in the woods with a ball and a stick.
Fall Golf
ARV is mostly in excellent shape! However, the greens were deceptively slow. They look great and pure but roll slow. This takes some getting used to, as we had several downhill putts just put the brakes on! Overall pace was good for a Sunday afternoon and we got home in plenty of time to see the Pats get crushed by the Lions.
Great deal at $47 w/cart on a Sunday!
Acushnet RV GC - September
I hadn't been down to Acushnet in a couple years, but this is definitely a fun and underrated course. Very good layout, tree lined and a little "cozier" through 11, then it becomes wide open 12 through 16 (w/ a tricky little 15th). Conditions were just fine, greens rolling ok, fairways and rough ok. Friendly staff. Grass driving range. Pace was good, Definitely worth a trip back before the end of the year.
Great spot - aerating greens
Love this course and have an excellent experience each time-- except Sept 10.
Got a great GolfNow $32 Hot Deal rate and after starting on the back nine, I was informed by an extremely considerate and friendly ranger/staff member upon arrival at the 1st tee that they had literally just punched holes on holes 1-6 and would soon be on their way to the 7th. He suggested I play 7-9 and then play the back nine again, which I did.
So-- completely reasonable and equitable solution and I played 21 holes for the price of 18 on a great course that was virtually empty.
My only issue is communication. The pro shop staffer could have and should have let me know they were aerating the greens when I checked in. It wouldn't have changed my plan to play there. It just reeks of golf courses not being upfront when it comes the aerating time of year-- something I totally understand is necessary. Just be up front and let people know...believe me, it will benefit the courses in the long run because players will remember the honest communication in future dealings and will return.
I will certainly be back and this is not a huge deal but I post this to let people know they just punched the greens.
Great layout and value.
I play. Acushnet few times each summer. Greens consistent and in good shape. Wonderful contrast front and back nines. Outward 9 Parkland style and as you make your way to 11th hole, and inward 7 holes, nice change to a Links format. Traps resanded recently. One of the best Municipal courses in SE Massachusetts!
Nice Course
I play this course a few times during the season to breakup my local play. Definitely worth the 40 minute drive. Great Staff, course in very good conditions and challenging holes.
Always look forward to getting out at Acushnet River.
This course is well maintained.
Tee to green the course is in excellent condition. The greens are medium speed, but are very consistent. Great layout. I have played this course many times over several years. Well worth the 45 minute drive for me !
A joy to play
This is truly a great course to play. Super friendly staff. The fairways are lush, great tees and greens are fair. You have really two different 9 nines a first party in the woods and the second part in the Carolinas links. We had a blast playing this course in stellar condition
Hurt up play there at that price it isso much worth it
VERY GOOD CONDITIONS
ARVGC is, and pretty much, has always been a very good value. Pricing has increased a bit this season but the value remains. The conditions are excellent for a muni course that sees so much play. For that matter, conditions are better than many a private course! The lay out is unique. The first 11 holes are "typical" golf holes in that there are tree lined fairways. Holes 12 thru 17 are a links style layout. More like a wide open lay out with bunkers and water and some wild grasses as opposed to true links golf. There are 4 sets of tee boxes that allow you to pick what feels good for you. There is not a clubhouse to speak of but beverages are available. The pro shop is adequately stocked.
This course shines on its condition, uniqueness, and value. However, the facility does need a course ranger. The pace of play can be terrible! It is the only course I have ever quit mid way because pace was awful. I only play here a few times a season because of that fact and always pick way off peak times and weather to do so.
