About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

Maplegate in the rain
Conditions were pretty good considering the monsoon we received the night before. ery few user on course due to weather which made pace of play a non-issue..
Golf cart was kinda sputtering to get started but major issue
Most improved
We have avoided Maplegate for the last few years based on conditions and service. Both were excellent and the course improvements are clear. Looking forward to playing again soon.

Lost one gained one
Superintendant and the work started is far from over...there are still no real rough grasses just about everywhere...such a outstanding potential, yet, needs $$$ to be reinvested...very long way to go and marginal progress over the past several years...even before covid...still have blind/dangerous holes(2,4 can slice into 8) and so many others...no wonder they need 4 spotters on week ends...
Thing is, make certain, as the season progresses, you check to see if there are any golf schools underway...still seeing one on the left side, the right side, one inside and two outside where the clubs are mounted of youngsters...being driven in a golf cart...pray nothing happens when the summer version of camp starts...
A well loved course if one listens to the golf range chatter...yet, as we went throught the 18 holes we became more and more convinced the holes themselves, were recently cut, but NOT tamped in any way...meaning you had to crush a 2 foot putt to get it to go in...else, three inches away, it would fade hard in one direction...simple fix...someone do spot check when holes are relocated...

Great time
Nothing but great things to say about my first ever round at Maplegate. Pace was solid, and the place was jammed as it is early season on a favorable weekend day. I read multiple reviews about poor pace, and not once did I feel slowed or rushed. There were multiple rangers out on walkie talkies communicating and also not bothering us. Also multiple hill spotters for blind shot assurance that we would not be hitting into the next group. One also helped me find an errant tee shot, shout out that guy! Course conditions were better than expected for early season, and the green were rolling fast and true. Played my best round of the season, will have to come back again. Truly a pleasurable day. Pace of play - the silent killer
Great course, fun layout. Pace of play has been, and continued to be, a major problem. Cluster F on the 3rd 4th and 5th tee box. Waited 15+ minutes on the 4th and 10 on the 3rd and 5th. The previous time encountered a group of 11 (yes you read that correct) on the 15th (par 3) that would not allow our 2some to play through. How an eleven is allowed on the course is beyond me.

1st time out
1st time out in ‘23…. Good shape, greens slow but expected… some upgrades to cart paths on back nine!…always challenging and fun to play

So have to give the new superintendent a chance
Par 3, 8th is really interesting where they want you to go to tee off…they have signs directing you go back across the bridge to 8 th tee
Guess the folks still need to assess the potential for a drive from 7 th tee being in the landing area of the 8 th tee… and since it’s not visible from either tee box to the other, no “fore” alert would be sounded for those on the 8th tee… since this was what happened
Four rangers on the weekend to way “all clear” to golfers on blind holes seems a good start
Lots of progress seeing some sod actually being used… just hope the superintendent budget is big enough to keep growing a llot more rough

Leafs every where
By far the worst condition I’ve ever seen a course in in regards to leaf’s in the fall.
It was actually unplayable as it was impossible to find your ball even when in play as it seem the Maintence team did not try at all to remove the leafs from the course.
It also took us over 3 hours to play 9 holes and we’re not able to complete our round because how bad the pace was.
