About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

Great track!! One of my fav's.
Course is in amazing shape. The new supe has turned this gem around and staff is always friendly. I've played here a dozen times already, and it hasn't disappointed once.
There must be a reason
...summer golf camp took over the putting green and driving range...just wonder how busy the course is on week ends, with or with out a RANGER..(I played during the week day)
Took a few holes to get the speed of the greens dialed in...
Did see NEW equipment on the course working on the fairways...
Alas, the cart paths are the same as three+ years ago, a couple of greens had nasty divot scars that clearly need attention...
The Glen Ellen Superintendent, if still there is making progress...yet, there must be a reason the course has yet to get to the rough(if you like dirt this is for you)...staying in the fairway is essential...
Safety...almost got hit by group behind us on #2 hole...need a bell or some way to communicate with those wanting to tee off...missed by about 8 feet
...later in the back, there is a blind tee shot(15th if, I remember... that once had a mirror contraption to see who might be ahead of you prior to teeing off...but no more...
In summary, while coming a long way, it is still a work in progress(think no real rough in a majority of holes), and there IS noticeable NEW equipment being used...the course itself, will get better as more investment is made...

Worth Playing
Course is well maintained and in good condition. Good value for the money. Tough front 9, easier back 9 but still a tough course overall. 19th hole has a nice patio overlooking the 16th and 18th hole.

Decent course, poorly executed.
Closely booked tee times and no starter so slow play and people constantly right behind and ahead of us. Playing partners cart died on hole 2 and wasn’t brought a new one til 5. Ours was dying by 8 and had to swap at the turn. Was a 5 hour round on a Tuesday morning. Lots of blind shots that hit hilly areas so too much time spent looking for balls that were not far off target.

Haven’t played here in a while and in recent years it wasn’t in the best shape. Played today and course was great, good fairways greens. Looks so much better than years past!

Our group likes to try out new courses periodically and this one is a little gem. Friendly staff, long and challenging course, fairways and greens are in good shape considering the drought. Cart lady was friendly and kept us from overheating. Slow pace of play was the only real down side but no other complaints. We’ll be back!

Good value
Fun course to play with plenty of challenging layouts. I think some course knowledge would go a long way. Good practice facilities and small restaurant/bar on site. Two beverage carts were on the course and I saw them frequently, though I did not purchase anything. If I had any gripe it would be the pace of play, you could tell the course was jammed up with people teeing off every 7 minutes or so. But, to get the rate I imagine you need to pack the course.
All in all it took 2 hrs 10 mins for 9 and I wasn’t really rushing.

I’m back
I haven’t played Maplegate for over 5 years because of the conditions. I meet the owner at the Gavel (Lenny) he ask if I played Maplegate. I told him no because it was terrible..well 5 years ago it was. He told me to come back and give it another shot. I’m glad I did. It is now my go to course. Lenny you did a great job with the place.

A definite yearly play,
We liked this course , played the white tees , great vision using the natural landscape to design the wholes, looked very natural with a nice flow. A thinkers course with just enough doglegs and bends. Greens rolled true and good size. Course conditions were good. Going back soon.
