About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

5/31 at Maplegate
I have played Maplegate 3 or 4 times in the past years and my first observation on 5/31 was that the course was in much better condition. Fairways were much better as in the past many bare spots were present however this round the fairways were very good with no real issues with condition. Greens were also much improved however were relatively slow. What I would say is that if it weren't for GolfPass/GolfNow rates I probably would not have played as the average / weekend pricing makes it hard to justify the value. Congratulations to Maplegate for the improvements hope to see them continue. Also hoping GolfPass/Golfnow will continue to provide competitive rates / deals for Maplegate. Overall had a great time, thanks!

Good course,
Pricey if you don’t get. GolfNow deal. Clubhouse is small, but we’ll stocked.
Staff is great.. Rangers are around to maintain pace, but don’t push you unless you’re falling behind. 4 golfers all 18+ handicaps got 18 in on a Saturday in 4.5 hours

Decent Course
Decent course for the money. Played early and pace of play was fine. Course was in ok shape for early season. This course isn’t high end, but the price isn’t either, it’s a fun layout and quite challenging.

Nice Course - Will play again later in season
Nice challenging course in rolling. Greens were almost impossible but aeration was clearly listed under course conditions. I hope to go back mid season to see how the course changes. Nice staff and modest clubhouse but well run with snacks and helpful staff.

Only 9 holes open
Maplegate is generally a good course but it only had 9 holes open due to aerating the back 9. This was not mentioned when my reservation was made and was not indicated on their website. Very disappointing. The front 9 green has also been aerated and we very bumpy. Not a great situation.

Great Public Course
Fun round. Course was in good shape for early season round. Staff was friendly. Pace of play was what you would expect for a public course on a Saturday. Ranger was out there trying their best to move things along. Will definitely play again!

Improvement seen
Over the last few years, conditions had become mediocre. .And considering it's April, to see the improvement already is a tribute to the staff. The staff was very friendly and the course was pretty crowded. The pace of play rating was due to other members of our group not the course.

Opening day!
Great! Grounds were a bit soggy on a few holes(but what isn’t this early) but the course played well. While in the pro shop learned over 300 trees taken out over the winter…new vistas! Maplegate gets better every year, hoping they will keep the fees competitive with others in the area.
