About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

Typically a gorgeous course, with a historically unfriendly staff. Recently played it, had the standard unfriendly staff, but was surprised by the horrible tee boxes and mediocre greens.

Good Not Great
Course conditions not good. Lots of dead spots on fairways. Really no rough, just dirt. So many ball marks on greens. Way too many maintenance people on course. Noisy and in the way.
Nice course. Awful staff
We were the third group of the morning to tee off. After the turn the ranger came up to us and told us we were playing too slow. The group behind us never waited for us to clear to tee off once. The ranger proceeded to follow our group and watch us play for the next 4 holes. I asked him what he was doing and told him he was ruining my round. There’s no one even close to us and let us be. I shot a 42 on the front and 60 on the back. Completely ruined our round and experience. The course is nice but I will never be back.
Horrible value
Tee boxes and fairway conditions were not great for paying $99. Had much higher expectations. Layout was a challenge which was nice and rangers kept pace up with letting you know you are clear to tee off on blind shots.
Excellent course
The terrain was challenging for a beginner like me and my son. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would absolutely play here again.
Potential
Has a ton of potential, hate to see it go for solar fields. Play it while you can!

Price Did Not Match Conditions.
I played here 07/27/24, after wanting to play it for awhile. It’s very clear the course is going to be torn down after this year, because conditions are absolutely terrible. Starting with the tee boxes, which were ripped up on almost every hole. The greens were loaded with ball marks and burn marks. The fairways were loaded with divots, burn marks, and just general neglect. To charge $100 to play here should almost be considered criminal. Last piece of this, it took nearly six hours to play, because the course was so overbooked. I have never written a review on a course, but I felt it was necessary here. Stay far away from MapleGate, there’s plenty of other courses in the area that you’ll get your $ worth.
Just OK
For the price, I would’ve expected the course to be in near pristine condition. The cart paths were in bad shape, greens were some of the worst I’ve played on this year (front 9), green-side rough was so deep you could barely locate a ball from a perfectly respectable approach shot just off the green and the cost was much higher than it should be given the condition of the course. Fairways were in nice condition. Charging upward of $99 for a weekend round, is absurd for what you get. I’ll only play this course again if there is a Hot Deal available I deem worth it. Not a bad course at all, just for the price I would’ve expected much more.
