3 hours to play nine
3 hours to play nine. Called multiple times to clubhouse to enforce pace. No one showed. When asked for our money back for the back nine they said "well what did you expect?"
Surface of Mars
Conditions were awful but course was equally bad. Paid for 18 riding but weather forced us to do 9 walking. Have not been refunded by GolfNow yet.
Terrible Conditions
Course was in terrible shape, absolutely no maintenance to fairways or greens. Moved well at first but the back 9 took almost 3 hours. Go somewhere else
Fun easy course
The greens were nice but the fairways were bald in a lot of spot on a lot of holes.
Tee times cannot be scheduled 4 minutes apart
It was a nice fall Sunday, and I had plenty of time to take in the view of the leaves changing color on the trees since the course had decided they could schedule groups 4 minutes apart. That's right, 4 minutes. I don't know if it was due to some confusion between GolfNow, the inhouse scheduling system, and the people answering the phone, but there were people teeing off 4 minutes before my time, 4 minutes after, and then a group right after that. And we didn't get to tee off for 10+ after our scheduled time and had to wait at most tee boxes, usually with the players ahead of us still waiting to tee off. When you're racing sunset, that's not a good thing.
I will say that Norwood appears to have solved their drainage problem, but we're in the midst of a drought, so I'm not sure.
The course has a bit of variety and challenge due to the major doglegs and the encroaching trees.
The Good The Bad And The Ugly
The Good includes the small and well-maintained greens which were quick and challenging to read. The layout is filled with many interesting holes, none more so then the 220 yard second hole which is a par 4! There are a number of hazards, including but not limited to water Which can come as a surprise to the first time player. I found the staff warm and welcoming. Overall, the weekend walking rate at $40/loop was a good value. The course is flat and easy to walk with consistently short distances between greens and tees with the notable exception at the turn
The Bad and The Ugly includes the netting that borders the driving range and accompanied you down holes # 1 and #10. The walk through the parking lot between #9 and # 10 is unfortunate. As the 10th tee is tucked behind the dumpsters of a large hotel. Once your back on the course,, the aesthetics are more pleasing but the location of the course on a busy thoroughfare is perhaps is to my mind its most unappealing feature. While the fairways were not blanketed with a homogenous lush strain of grass, they were more then playable If you allowed yourself to play wi tee rules and bump the ball a few inches to give yourself the lie you have earned by hitting the surprisingly narrow fairways.
As a 4 handicap golfer, I had a great time and found the layout great fun. I look forward to when I get to play it again!
Solid for the money
Inexpensive and easy going. Fairways are in tough shape and the course is unimaginative but good little course.
