Drainage still a problem
I gave Norwood another try to see whether it was any better than previous visits. While the conditions are better than the state-owned courses, they are no better than some of the other less expensive courses in the area. In particular, while most of the tee boxes and greens were in good shape, some tee boxes were built on a side or down hill whereas some greens had some pretty bad dead spots. Fairways were mushy even though it hadn't rained for two days. One fairway had a 50' x 50' area 3 inches below water.
Finally, they were a bit short staffed - on a Sunday. So that impacted their ability to have a drink cart and the ranger didn't really keep a handle on the slow groups ahead of us - and then blamed us when they finally cleared one green suddenly before we teed off. Poor form.
Fair Course - I’ll be back
Tee to Green - Great!
Greens are Good, a true test for putting!
(some other courses in the area you can’t putt on)
Short and easy course
First thing I noticed is that the white tees are longer than the blue tees, figure this one out! Most Par 4s are quite short and the fairways are very generous. Not too many hazards to trap you. Fairways in decent shape except where it is muddy. Greens are in fair shape, a bit slow.
Course in rough shape. Tee boxes beaten up, greens in tough shape, many holes were being watered, but no one was shutting them off as you came through. So if you hit it near the sprinklers, you had to rush in and grab your ball or try and hit fast before the water came back around. It's halfway between where a buddy and I live so it works, but if you can play somewhere else, I would play somewhere else.
Always Fair Play
Always a good “Fair-Play” level golf experience…
No complaints
Always see efforts toward improvements when I play there.
Be back soon for more…
Rough Shape - not worth the price
Really rough course. Greens were tattered and slow, seems like the aeration just didn’t work at all. Pace of play was slow and the layout was pretty uninteresting.
Not sure
First time playing, wasn't too bad. Soft in some areas, but was good enough for getting swings in.
Straight and Hairy
Very straight course with a few dogleg par 4s kept in pretty good condition but greens are a little hairy and slow. 2 practice greens and a driving range makes a good warmup. Shot 91.
Beat up public course.
Tees were beat up and uneven.
Fairways were decent.
Greens are a mess - bare spots, overgrown spots, bad grass, very bumpy.
They literally stole my money
I’d rather stay home and light the greens fee on fire; at least there’s no commute for that. I paid for 18 and after half way through the turn, the ranger came and said we had to leave because “everyone wants to go home and we shouldn’t have let you make the turn”. Wouldn’t offer me a refund or even a voucher, just a shoulder shrug and “It’s not my problem”. We made the turn at 4:30…. We also tee’d off 30 minutes late (arrive to the course an hour early, they’re just so mismanaged). Conditions are terrible. 50 foot tree was uprooted and laying across the middle of one of the fairways. Balls don’t roll or bounce; the ground is constantly damp that a drive down the middle gives you a ball plugged 6 inches into the ground. For the love of whatever God you believe in, please don’t come here.
Very soggy
Course was extremely soggy due to all the rain that we have received, I'm sure it will be much better when it dries out.
I've played this Course for many years and it's a fun course, there has been a lot of renovation done in the past year.
So I'm looking forward to play there again with better conditions.
