Doesn’t make sense
Not sure how this place has the rating it does. Course is always in horrendous condition. Fairways burnt out, greens have patches of every color green on the spectrum. $79 for 18 with a cart is criminal for this place. The fairways are lined with rocks and you’re always in danger of doing some real damage to your equipment.
The most infuriating of all is that this place has been cart path only for the past 2+ years. The fairways are already junk. Letting us drive a cart out isn’t going to make them look any worse.
Please sell this course to someone that will take care of it. It’s depressing to watch it fall into disarray.
Good layout
I like this course, always felt that it was worth the money and I enjoy it every time I play. The course is currently very dry because of the weather. And a bit burnt out in places on the fairway, up around the collars of greens, and high traffic areas next to greenside bunkers. I don’t think that takes away from the experience too much, and would still recommend it to anyone above similarly priced courses I’ve played in the area.
Ok for the money
The course was ok for the $90 for 2 on GolfNow. The greens were healing from aeration And the fringe around some of the greens were in rough shape. Fairways were decent. I’d play there again for that price but not the regular green fee price.
Pembroke CC
This course use to be in better condition. Last 2 years the course went downhill. Maybe the new pandemic players made it worse. Lots of divots on greens. Fairway has a lot of dead patches. Broken tees and trash on every tee box.
Course was in great shape, just too many leaves around.
Rough Shape and overpriced
Should have been a giveaway that the entire tee sheet was open on a Saturday when every other course was booked up. It’s cart path only and the fairways are awful. Standing water, bare spots, no replaced divots. The tee boxes were in great shape although the lazy grounds crew keeps the tee markers off the side of the tee box. This made for a 20 yard wide teeing area but there was always a clean spot. The bunkers, greens, and surrounds were by far the worst part of the course. 4 of 18 greens had standing water and it had not rained all that hard. Green side rough was on existent, each lie was just bare dirt. Most of the bunkers were flooded, had broken rakes.
It took us 5 hours to play 18 holes, they have pace of play clocks on the course and we were an hour over pace by the end of the round. When we wrapped up (12:30pm) groups checking in were asked to walk because they were 12 carts short, that is 6 tee times…
For $80 on a weekend this is just not something I’d pay for again. The staff was very friendly and the bar was well stocked but that doesn’t excuse the dog track they are calling a golf course.
Cart path only
I understand the need for cart path only on wet grounds days etc but here it is a permanent thing and that should be pointed out before one commits to a tee time.
Luckily the staff there understands the need for some folks to not be able to walk and they go out of their way to get a blue flag.
Rough shape
Really a shame how the course has gone down the drain. Fairways are a mess even though it’s cart path only. I don’t love that you’re charged for a cart on the weekend even if you prefer to walk. Played here last year and the course was in better shape. Just no value for the green fee. I can play two rounds at a better maintained course for the price of one round here.
