U get what u pay for
Course wasn’t in bad shape but has some very “distinctive “ holes. Weird layout but all in all, good for what u pay. Greens are very small however
Good for getting out
It’s a so-so course. You get what you pay for and it’s a short course in general. Not very well manicured or fixed up, just kept up enough for the below average golfer. Low budget course, low budget conditions, etc.
Course layout is awful
First time playing here and will not be going back.
Tee boxes are a few feet away from greens- flying golf balls all over the place. My cart was hit 3 times (which could easily happen the way the place is set up).
Couldn't tell the difference between "fairway" and the rough, lost balls after hitting good shots in the middle of the fairway. Greens in poor condition to top it off.
Nowhere near worth the $40 paid.
Terrible
The GM an older woman is the rudest lady I have ever met. Their bag holders on the cart failed and the $200 driver $200 60 degree and putter all damaged and they gave us a free round instead of doing the right thing and compensating me correctly
Clubs Ruined Cause of Their Carts
As I’m leaving the 6th hole I go to take off from my drive and my bag falls off the cart and it was because there was a crack in the plastic piece used to secure the clubs to your cart. I just bought these from Carls Golf Land two weeks ago and the best they could do was give me a free round. The lady behind the bar who is the GM is not nice wouldn’t do a thing for us she was willing to buy the clubs for 150 and I spent 200 on a driver 100 on a 3 wood and then 75 on a 4 hybrid. Does this seem very fair? Guy in pro shop is awesome! But the overall Managment of the place is POUR. Such a shame.
!st Time playing
Front 9 was fairly open, Back 9 was much trickier, much tighter and fairly hilly. It helps if you know the course. really enjoyed the round. Smallest greens I think I have ever played. Good time over all.
Highland Hills
If your a beginner it’s not a bad course but they don’t maintain the course all that well. Personal deal breaker is poorly kept greens and this place did not pass.
Chuck
Quite hilly but carts can go everywhere so it is too strenuous. Fair course for the average golfer
Nice!
First time playing here. Only played the back 9. Course was in very good shape. For a Wednesday afternoon it was in great condition & great pace. Was able to finish in about 2 hours or less. Will be back soon!
The course was in pretty good shape, the staff was excellent, and pace of play wasn’t bad for Sunday morning.
Maybe it was good in 1926.
I like to give a course the benefit of the doubt. I read the reviews, but I've often found most reviewers are biased or unfairly critical. Buf Highland Hills is a disaster.
My first clue should have been the lack of yardage and slope on Golfnow. If it's 5500 yards I'd be stunned. The card says its 6100.
I'll admit my experience was tainted from the start by two players that got there just before me and teed off without a tee time. The woman in the clubhouse could've cared less that the jumped in front of me. As a single, I had to play behind them, which wouldn't have really been an issue if they were any good at all. That the wouldn't let me play through, even though they knew I was waiting on every shot, was disappointing. But not as much as the course itself.
The course is severely sloped. First 2 holes are completely blind on tees, so you don't see how weirdly shaped the fairways are. Big dropoffs and hidden valleys and swales throughout the front nine. But with them being so short, whatever. I'm a 10.0 handicap, just over 60 years . Been playing a long time, so I know how to gear down and play what I see. I hit 5 iron off the tee and alt wedge on my approach on the first 3 holes. Went par, bogey, par.
The fairways were green, but hard. Not very many good lies on them. Rough is just a slightly higher version of the fairway. Greens are ridiculously small. They slope mostly back to front, are very spongy, and are the slowest I've played in 5 years. I literally started putting with the edge of my alt wedge starting on the 3rd hole because I didn't want the speed to throw me off for future rounds.
Made birdie on the par four 4th, hitting driver and reaching the fringe in two with a five iron. That's when I had to admit the course was too short, and it was more for hackers like the guys that each made nine in front of me (I had plenty of time to count their shots.) I gave myself a bogey on the par three 5tth, skipping it to play the sixth because they were not going to let me through. Went par, bogey, birdie, par, almost driving the green on 8.
So, I'm 1 over par through nine, because I gave myself that bogey on 5, I've been putting with a wedge, and now with no one in front of me... and I quit. I couldn't bear the thought of nine more holes of short holes with crappy conditions and green that putt like my living room carpet. The tees are beat up from players using irons all the time. The only saving grace was the price... but I actually agree with the reviewer who commented that he wouldn't pay a dollar a hole to play there again. I'll leave it to the hackers.
OK deal for $25
I like this course’s layout really well but the conditions leave a lot to be desired. I’d call it an OK deal for 18 and a cart at $25 but that’s about the most I’d pay.
Blah
Course conditions are not that great. The lady that helped me in the pro shop was beyond rude, and even was trying to charge me more than the deal on here.
