Chemung Hills Golf Club
About
Established in 1927, Chemung Hills Golf Club is one Livingston County's oldest courses. The classic design has withstood the test of time beautifully and it is still considered one of the area's toughest public courses. The layout stretches across lush, rolling hills that are dappled with mature trees. Chemung Hills is known almost as much for the beautiful scenery as it is for the challenging design, which is characterized by its elevation changes. The ups and downs on the course range from subtly tricky to dramatic and intimidating. The layout has a player-friendly mix of short and mid-length holes, even all of the par 5s are reachable. Though you may not need length, your shots will need to be straight and accurate. You'll face blind shots on several holes. Strong iron play will be generously rewarded on this tough golf course.

Good place to play for the money
Played this course on the Saturday before Father's Day. We played 18 holes in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Only waiting a couple times and only for a few minutes. The course was in good condition. This was worth the 1 hour drive from our house to the course.
challenging
Great course. The hills makes this course a challenge for all golfers. No matter your handiecap. Would put this course on my top 5 favorites.
Chumung Hills
It was my first time here and loved it. Will play here again. Very good value when purchased on Golfnow.
Nice Ols Style Course
If you haven't yet... You should play this course, you will be surprised at the quality of a course located in a small (but growing) town. Certain holes need to be played with your head instead of your bravado. Greens in great condition except one that looks as though it is still recover from winter kill. Bottom line, you won't be disappointed.
Single player, great course.
This is the fifth or sixth time I have played Chemung and it progressively has gotten better and better. The last time I played, they were in transition of switching the front nine and the back nine around. Course had less par 3's than normal; however, that is fine to me. I will definitely recommend and play again.
fun to play! get price!
Fun to play! Greens need some work. Had hard winter. Loved it.
Greens were terrible
Again- I find a decent deal for a few of my buddies to go here and give it a go. Have had bad experiences with staff in the past (rangers constantly heckling claiming slow play or that we had beers we didnt buy from the course). Either way, I live in the area, like the course and wanted to give it another try. For the price we paid, no one could argue. This time, i will say that the staff was much better. and i suppose that was the only positive as the greens on this course are in TERRIBLE condition. Midway through the round we just all started writing down 2 puts and calling it good. Id say 6 out of the 18 greens were actually playable.
Interesting, narrow course. Shame about greens.
Interesting old style course with narrow fairways cut between the woodland meaning anything other than 'out of the middle' drives are punished and lost balls are commonplace. It's a nice challenge but there is 1 problem - the greens are in terrible shape, which is a shame because in the places where they are OK the greens are fast and challenging. It's worth playing once, but given the choice in the area you're not likely to play it much more than that in a season.
Greens and Bartender Need Help
All in all it's a great course but the greens are a mess and we have yet to have a bartender that can actually make a drink and get a warm hot dog to you . The bartenders have been very unfriendly Not a big concern when they bring you cold food that should be hot. The golf Rangers are friendly and nice as well as the people working in the pro shop.
Playing Condition
Played the course in 2014 and it was in excellent condition. Went back earliy this year, May 1st, and found that many of the greens are damaged from the harsh winter conditions. Many greens were not puttable.. I thought they should warn people ahead of time and tell them what they are doing to repair.
Slope and Speed
Speed of greens are nice a fast! FAST! The greens have some good slope to them too. DO NOT BE ABOVE THE HOLE. EVER!
Will play again and more often.
A hidden gem
What a great course, you have to manage your game, don't hit driver on all the par 4 s
Great staff.
I'll be back with some friends
Fun Course.Good Value fpr the money
Played this course a number of times and it has always been fun. Not a difficult course but not too easy either. A fair, fun course for the average golfer. Never seems to be too busy, which is nice. Fairly well manicured, although they had aerated the course earlier in the week so some of the greens were a little rough to putt on, but it is a necessary maintenance procedure that understandably has to be done . Can't complain for $19. Great weather, fun course so a great day.
fun round
Great for the price. Good pace challenging but doable!
This course has great fairways
Greens were awesome course overall was challenging, fairways were well maintained, only problem was that the holes are far from each other
course layout
Scenic, picturesque layout. No up and down holes. Condition of course was great. Staff, freindly and helpful. Will play it again.
Nice course with challenging greens.
Played the course for the first time and had to learn the layout. Scorecard gives tips for fairways, greens and hazards to avoid. Hilly course, with some woods, but sufficient gaps to afford various escape options with risk/reward. Some forced carries, but nothing which will impact bogey or double bogey golfers if you pick the conservative shot. Greens have varying levels and/or slope, this will be the greatest challenge. Sufficient tee options to allow enjoyable playing for golfers of all skills. I plan to go back and play again.
course is coming back.....
nice challenging greens, need to play the course..
